Does that mean he's the smallest name on the list of possibles?

According to the Hull Daily Wail Bruce has flown in from his holiday in Portugul to speak to the Allams and finalise the contract. There is an alleged press conference later today. Seeing is believing though

So Bruce hasn't met the Allams yet, his agent has sorted the deal, and he is flying back from his holiday today to meet them. The only possible issue is if Bruce hates the Allams when he meets or they say something that concerns him, lack or budget etc, so still not signed but edging closer it seems.

I would of said that they WOULD contact the press before the fans which makes me believe it is a load of bollocks

Im sure Humberside said yesterday that they had spoken to the Allams PR people who had confimed that they were aiming for a 2pm press conference but it wasnt in place yet.
Just the final details of the contract to be agreed but all going ok so far, and obviously the club wont announce anything until the contract is signed

If they admit there is a press conference then it is confirming that we have signed SB. The club have kept us in the dark this long so what is another day to them.

The whole thing has been one long farce really. Bruce just flying in this morning, what happened to "finishes his holiday on Wednesday" last week. Well I hope they have spoken to him via Skype although it looks like his agent (the one who had no contact from us) has been sorting things out. Lets just hope it is to Bruce's satisfaction. I wonder if there is a last minute hitch and he doesn't sign will the press conference go ahead with number 2 choice. Roll on 2pm.

The biggest problem I think is, in the olden days, we'd have just read about it in the local papers or heard about it on the radio. Nowadays, with instant communications and 24/7 news, we expect to know everything the instant it happens, and waiting for news just seems unreasonable.

The processes and discussions etc that are required to appoint someone to a managers role haven't really changed, and clearly the Allams don't deal in gossip or speculation so until they have an actual announcement to make, they will say nothing, this adds to the sense of frustration around not knowing whats going on by people who aren't used to, or have forgotten what it is to wait and they start claiming it's a farce, when the reality is, it isn't. Its actually just being done properly, professionally and will be announced when its ready.

I hate waiting for info as much as anyone, but if that waiting means when Im told something, its solid, reliable and true, I'd rather that than being fed what amounts to teasers, or worse, misinformation.

For heavens sake the days of sitting in an oak panelled smoke filled room, breaking contracts down into the fine detail, before making your Mark, have long disappeared.
The process of appointing someone now is 90% conducted via the web. Steve Bruce will only be having a general chat, the details are already done and accepted by both parties.

At this moment in time I don't particularly care who the manager is - if we don't have a press conference today, I think I will be like the John Cleese headteacher in Clockwise right at the end.

Partly agree, but until they meet and its signed, nothing is certain. Why announce that? If it goes wrong, everyone involved ends up with egg on their faces.

What the hell does that mean? Egg on your face?! Where did that saying come from?

    Jesus, I need a kip til 2!

In fairness though WS, was that to manage a football club? Horses for courses I think applies here.

    Dear god, another metaphor.

Oh and when I read you emailed them your demands, I imagined telling them to cough up thousands of pounds or you know where they live!

That I agree except some of the minor details, but I dont axpect the club to announce anything until the contract is signed it may be all agreed and just mwaiting for the legal boffs to draw up the contract but the Allams would be foolish to announce before Bruce has put his mark on the contract and therefore not a farse at all.

I'll admit its been driving me mad not knowing anything and wish it was sorted weeks ago but doesnt make it a farse just me impatient

I have an interview today at 1.30. In person and not over skype etc, albeit not for the city job. It also annoys me that I agreed to this time when I've been waiting to find out whether Bruce will be named or not all frigging week. I also doubt there will be a press conference if I am named as successor to the person who last held the position.
