Read my posts on here and ja606 (username 'Loiner') since the takeover news, and you'll see I've been very vocal in saying I don't want Man City style investment. I'm no hypocrite.
Just jealousy, congrats from a hammer, I would've felt as happy as you are now if we'd had real billionaires and they'd done what Mansoor did, I don't begrudge it to you at all, there are no teams that can win the league without it any more, who's fault is it? The greed of the players.
Fortune lmao, its was a few million in todays money yes but merely a tiny almost none existent fraction of your spending.
It's not as simple as working out what it is worth today in terms of inflation alone. For a start, when considering the earning capability and value of clubs at that time, £40k was indeed a fortune. So what is the percentage of such an investment around a century ago compared to what clubs were worth and earned at that time, and what is the percentage of the investment into City compared to what the club is worth and earns today? Work that out and you'll see how it is a relative argument. To use another example to show how naive your thinking is, Arsenal, via their owner Henry Norris, paid around £125k for Highbury Stadium to be built in 1913. In inflation terms, £125k in 1913 equates to just over £11m today. Yet In 2003 The Emirates cost Arsenal around £390m to build.
And the fans who are apologists for the process and refuse to fight it. Evil flourishing when good men do nothing, n all that.
Nope, nowhere near. Some gimp on Twitter tried to make it out that it did but when the sums were done and even without wages being factored in Citys was far more expensive. With wages it was double and then some.
Every other team in europe---- forever in uniteds shadow. We could sign who we want, but are only interested in ethical trophies . That is why you spend 30 million on players and we develop them into world beaters. Good to see despite little citeh finally winning something for the first time they are still bitter and obsessed by the peoples religion man united. I reckon deep down most city fans love us too, but have to hide their feelings from their parents, back to school on monday you bitter muppits.
Isn't there a story in the press this morning about paying in excess of £30 Mill for Modric? A no more than average player for Spurs for the past 2 seasons? And you say you 'develop' new talent...My backside is laughing at your ignorance!!!
