Unless you are Man utd,Liverpool,Barca or Madrid then nearly all clubs are stepping stones!! thats the nature of the beast in football, i respect your views Valley but for me his integrity is still pretty much intact, i was a little upset with him going but even then it was tempered because Liverpool are one of the biggest sporting clubs in the world ! you have to respect him for having the balls to take a job like that on!

My feelings about the guy are that the chance to become a world name manager at one of the biggest clubs was just something he couldnt turn down twice, he is taking a gamble but i get the feeling by the way he is referencing Huw Jenkins as a best mate that there will be a job here for him one day if it goes tits up at Liverpool, of course the new guy might be the next best thing since sliced bread!! you just never know in this game <ok>

KJ- i got quite emotional reading that you got quite emotional <laugh> hope the **** with your family works out ok fella <ok>

Superswan our new manager could be sacked for relegation and be a complete failure at our club, will you then say that we should thank him ? Or will you be fickle as you call it and thank god he's gone ?

You have a point, Dai. Today's hero will inevitably be tomorrow's villain.

Swim: I called it "vitriolic claptrap", not because people were criticising Rodgers per se, but because some of the comments made were well out of order.

"Judas" "crash and burn" "never liked him anyway", and wait for it "we'd have got promoted without him".

These are just some of the pearlers we've seen over the last week, so whereas I respect people's right to lash out when they feel hurt by his departure I also reserve the right to call their comments 'claptrap' - which they are. <ok>

Bottom line is..... I bet any neutral fan over 30 can name 10 Liverpool managers from the last 40 years. Now ask the same people to name me 4 EVER Wigan managers

Norway, great post fella. My emotions were pretty high when he first left, mainly anger, but just reading yours and swims post should make people realise how hard it probably was to take the job, but, it was something he needed to do.

    I no longer blame him.

As I said KJ, I agreed with you throughout (check my posts prior to the recent slagging season). Some just need longer to come to terms with the reality <peacedove>. In 10 years time, the majority will look back with utmost esteem. The rest are entitled to their opinion.

valley if a manager gets sacked then he has not done well. you can still like the guy...<ok> its a shame that the big teams came calling early, after all we knew they would come calling the way everyone admired brendan, I tell you what brendan has got us more publicity in his short time with us than all the past 10 managers put together....respect man its not as if he has done anything wrong....

I agree Swim. Even Martinez has been forgiven my most, and I feel and his departure was curiously more of a bombshell. Maybe finishing above Wigan went a long way towards mending that particular fence.

Superswan, where have I said I don't respect the man? All I want him to do now is to bugger off and let us get on with things! His integrity around the Siggy deal is where its shot, saying in the press don't worry Siggy if the deal doesn't work out at Swansea, Liverpool are interested :emoticon-0105-wink: , has obviously scuppered the deal.

With my neck on the Anfield line, I would have done the same! He was never our player, just someone who obviously wants to play for BR.
Yes the deal was scuppered... because he wants to play for BR and wants to know his future in the 'Prem' is secure. He has never said, my future is with Swansea, just he wants to be back in the Prem.

I think Brenden moving from Swansea scuppered the deal valley. Siggy indicated in the local press that he was intrested in signing for us as long as Brenden was manager here. You cant hold anything against the player for that, i agree that Brenden should have said nothing but lets be honest here, he was only really stating the obvious wasnt he ??

It's the dishonesty that gets me. Firstly there's no doubt in my mind he lied and did speak to the Yanks when he was in America about the Liverpool job.
Secondly, Huw Jenkins saying that during the meeting they had last Tuesday it wasn't brought up.

Time to move on and look to the future now

Swimaway I have moved on, but it's being brought up again because this man has made sure it has by a letter to the press. I have said all along that it's more important for us that we concentrate on a new manager rather than a former one !

I said his integrity is shot a few days ago and that was it, onto other things as I would rather discuss my team than Brendan Rodgers, he is the past like Sousa and Martinez and should be consigned as such, so as the subject is again at the forefront it appears to me that some have not in fact moved on as you suggest.

In the interest of the forum... I have said my piece and as you have, moved on (perhaps less bitter than some who are still pointing backwards!)

Now ..... lets get the next manager in for some decent news!!

Because its already been said on the club website, how many times do you want this rehashed ? Think Superswan you should move on now, the guy is part of our history now, looking back is not going to help us is it ? We need to move onto other things instead of this.
