No he wasnt, if anything both were being as bad as each other but only one had to stoop a level lower. Suarez was even told off for it by the ref was he not? Anyway you're right, its boring but so is the stupidity of some people on this site in regards to racism. The ignorance is amazing. Nobody on here as such and not aimed at you Dave but some posters, GC, EUROS and dotted arouund the site are real low lives.
We all know Suarez called Evra and we al know he wasn't doing it in a friendly non-offensive manner. The sooner people get over this hurdle the better The argument Liverpool fans should have on this subject (personally, I think it should have been swept under the carpet three or four months ago now) is on the evidence provided and whether it justified being found guilty, never mind a eight game ban! In a court of law, evidence needs to substantially prove someone's guilt before conviction, this is where the FA ****ed up. In a court of law, Suarez would not have been charged. Yes, he did it but the evidence was not substantial. So, if your going to continue to argue about this subject (please don't), at least argue about the relevant part
I think the FA should have a no nonsense approach so that we dont have to dwell on this. Accused of racism should mean an immediate hearing and a decision made before the next game where possible. If found to of been racist a season long ban should be handed down for first time offenders, do it again and receive a ban for life ( from the english game at least ). This would stop all this, players wouldnt dare do it even for a laugh, players would have to learn about england and how we do things over here instead of having the excuse they didnt know. They should know and I get embarrassed by how some Brits act abroad and the same applies to foreigners over here. Would Suarez of been banned in thats situation....... I dont think so.
The whole issue of racism in the UK and particularly in football is a complete and utter mess. People will always have differing views about what is an is not racist by intent. This is hard enough to prove but becomes impossible when you skew that definition in favour of the interpretation of the recipient.
If your handing out season long bans and life bans, Im afraid REAL courts would have to get involved not " Kangaroo" ones like the FAs with there 99% conviction rate (similar to North Korea ) In that sense I wish Suarez had got a season ban cos LFC would have taken the case to a REAL court and the Suarez case would have been dropped like a hot potato, as there wre so many ifs buts and maybes
You are wrong. See the FA would simply have to make the rules apart of its policy for entering and playing in their competitions. The PL would have to agree of course. Therefore if they issued a 1 year ban for racism any attempt to get it overturned in criminal or public courts wouldnt change the fact the player had been banned. Look at FIFA and how they crush anyone who takes sporting matters to criminal courts. Instead of the player being punished the club would be made to suffer for bringing the game into disrepute. Its the same with FFP.....they are the requirements needed to enter a Uefa competition. Nothing no criminal or civil court can do really.
Maybe but I think if you are banned in one country Uefa makes the ban apply if you move clubs so it wouldnt be an issue.
I suspect they would. Imagine being the only club to say no to rules that bring about harsh punishment for racism. You would get crucified. Its like the only clubs who didnt want FFP were the ones who knew it would **** them over bigtime.
No YOUR wrong Scenario 1.FA convict player give him year ban 2.Player take issue to REAL Court 3.Real court disagree with FA and says player has no case to answer If the FA/FIFA/UEFA then decided to then ban the said player despite the REAL court ruling, the said would then be able sue the FA, AND the REAL court ruling would OVERRULE the FA ruling anyway, so they would be breaking the law also It would be exactly the same as the Bosman ruling, the football authories didnt want it to come in, its just Jon Marc Bosman took it to a court ABOVE there jurisdiction , so they didnt have a choice anyway. And theres f**k all the FA,FIFA,UEFA could do about it
You're assuming that a player believing he's innocent yet found guilty by a non legal Football 'panel' would not seek 'real' legal advice and if needs be sue the accusing player for slander and/or the FA and/or Uefa.
Again Uefa, FIFA and national FAs would have final say on who plays in their competitions. The courts could say what they like but no court on earth is going to tell any governing body in football who can and cant play in their competitions aslong as the reasons are not derogatory.
Some might, I expect a few would but it would harm them more. FIFA, UEFA and co have quite a bit of power in world politics. Some countries would change laws for them not against them. I think they would have a number of appeal options made available to players though, something else which would urther help prevent any influence from outside parties such as criminal courts.
In a court of law a QC would have used the evidence of Evra's manipulation of his accusation and multiple evidence adjustment to get the case kicked out and paved the way for Suarez to sue the bollocks off Evra and the FA for libel and slander. So it would deffo have harmed him more.
UIR Do you really think that the FA is competent enough and impartial enough to have the power to take an action that would probably destroy someone's career? Are you that impressed by their track record?
It's just a WORD FFS!!! A words that was used IN IT'S ORIGINAL MEANING and with affection. The ONLY reason Suarez was thrown to the wolves over it was because of Evra's faux indignation Why are ignorant people trying to draw parallels between this and murdering gays, child porn etc?
Not at all but the reason for this is their inconsistency hence why I would prefer if they had a system in place that allowed for only one punishment for each offence. Racism should be one punished severely and any player stupid enough to do it with the threat of a season long ban would rightfully deserve it. Any player who did it again after that ban would deserve a lifetime ban from the game. Its got nothing to do with the game. The fact the FA and other governing bodies are not consistent is the biggest problem I have with them. 2 different players commit the same offence and get very different punishments.
