We're comparing racist abuse to calling somebody a fat **** now? **** me. I've no idea why people insist on these daily debates, the reality is, unless you've been racially abused then you just won't get it. I'd go into more detail but I really don't see the point, or have the energy.
I wouldn't usually get involved, nor have the energy, but if someone opposes me then I can't help but respond.
As you may have noticed, that's usually the case with me, but with a subject like this I find it's hard to get any sort of message across at all, nevermind over a football forum.
Im interested in the comments along the lines of 'Platini again, what a bellend' etc. Aside from this issue, what exactly do people think he has previously done wrong in his role?
**** me how has this gone from a debate about racial abuse at a football match to an in depth scientific insight into why people gain weight. Couldn't happen anywhere else. Next topic - how to make a nuclear bomb in your garage?
I'm not an expert, but I think most people put on weight by plunging their crisp-filled fists down their gullets numerous times a day, whilst sitting on their sizeable butts. If anyone recognises this trait in themselves, I am going to the gym tonight so you may begin your rehabilitation with me!
It's a piece of piss, so long as you can lay your hands on some weapon grade Plutonium... http://home.earthlink.net/~enigmaep/annihilation/buildabomb.html
Everyone has a bit of plutonium in an old holborn tin in the cupboard with the paint stirring stick...don't they? This thread's going to screw up MI5's screening software.
I don't like his hair. Makes him look a bit like Napoleon. Whenever I've seen him interviewed he comes across as smug and condescending to the point of being aloof and arrogant. Example being when he was asked about goal line technology last week by a SSN reporter. It was cringeworthy. Nope, he 's not for me.
I bought one of those anti-bullying wristband things the other day. Well, I say I bought it, I actually nicked it off some short, fat, ginger kid with glasses. Lee Mack.
Well considering he played like that and was one of the best players in history it's hardly surprising. And that attitude really held Ali and Mourinho back didnt it? For me he has done some of the very best things in the role we have seen such as expand the CL to recognise the whole of Europe rather than just the big 4 leagues and move the CL final to a Saturday which is indisputably better. Everyone always clamoured for 'a football man' to be in the role and then we got one and they still moan. What they meant was an English football man. Edit - I also remember the story of the great Gianni Agnelli wandering in to the Juve dressing room after a match and being stunned to see Platini smoking like a chimney. Incredulous he claimed 'How can you run when you smoke like that?" to which Platini answered "I dont need to run, (insert energetic Italian midfielders name who i cant recalll) does all my running for me". Mega.
I wonder what Platini would say or do if the entire team or both teams walked off in sympathy with a racially abused player.
He would simply have to not publicly support them to be seen to support the rules but what he felt deep down might be something different. People dont fully appreciate his position, it might seem simple but in his role he HAS to be seen to uphold the letter of the law and not doing so potentially could set a dangerous precedent. Dont confuse what he has to do with what is 'right'.
That is a very good point that many will not have thought about myself included. Couple that with the fact that players doing as they see fit, specially internationals, will make players even more untouchable with their already ridiculous player power which needs stamping out the game.
If there was more exercise done at school and more organised exercise in later years there wouldn't be the obesity. When I was younger, 10 - 40, I ate anything I wanted and kept skinny because I played football and tennis and walked miles. Once I worked from home and stopped exercising I started to put on weight. Now I have to be careful with what I eat and walk as much as possible even if I've got nowhere I need to go.
Given your apparent lack of knowledge on the subject and the fact you are ignoring what's written to purposely provoke a reaction, I'd say a further response is simply futile. Like others have said this has descended into inane debate, which I suspect was your intention from the off.
I bow to your experience. It amazes me that you have the time to post on here, your skills must be in great demand. You not only have the knowledge to cure obesity in one fell swoop, but also the expert eye to be able to sort the genuine cases (which you admit exist) from those you feel are self induced, and all you need is a glance. I take may hat off to you. Obviously people with lesser skills must rely on civlil decency or run the risk of just looking abusive and judgmental.
