Why do people keeping saying we should sell Spearing...? He is not on a lot of money, loves the club, is a local lad and doesn't complain. Man Utd had these kind of peoples in abundance over the years topping up their squad, I think that makes sense
Hes not good enough and is now 24, at least with Hendo n Shelvey they are still 20/21.Gerrard,Lucas,Diame,Gylfi,Hendo and Shelvey is more than enough CMs next year,Adam n Spearing as they are the 2 who arnt young and have the least quality should be offloaded and we should use the money to bring in better quality in wide areas and in the number 9 position.Aqua,Cole,Pacheco,Maxi should all go too and I suspect they will, think Rodgers will wanna have a look at everyone first, so it may be end of July before we start gettin departures
Can't see many being back come the end of July. The lads at the Euros will either still be on holiday or only just be returning subject to how far they get in the tournament. The younger lads involved in the Olympics will still be there. Rodgers won't get a proper look at the squad until well into August. IMO, he will have to go by what he has seen already, videos and on the opinion of just Kevin Keen now Steve Clarke's left. I'm willing to put my hat on it that Spearing is at Liverpool come 1 September
Agree totally. In all honesty he may not be spectacular but as a squad player I have no issues with him at all. His love for the shirt is also never going to be in doubt Basically if we do sign Diame then it means we have good cover in centre mid for Lucas and if we could get Siggy then we will have good cover for Stevie G too. Happy days
We need a squad, not just a first team. It's pointless getting rid of people unless you have adequate replacements. This time last year we thought we were stuffed with midfielders, then we shipped out Aqua, lost Meireles and got a couple of injuries and suddenly looked a bit thin. The only reason to sell Spearing would be if we weren't going to play him and he was costing too much to keep.
FSG wont allow players picking up money who arnt involved If we sign Diame and Gylfi We will have Gerrard,Lucas,Aqua,Shelvey,Hendo,Diame,Spearing,Gylfi,Adam,Spearing. Who would you offload if any FAR too many CMs ,we mustnt have guys pick up wages who dont play.Aqua,Adam n Spearing should all go, the max we need is 6
You put Spearing twice Whether we sell him or not, Aquilani won't be here. If we don't sell him then he will just go out on loan again. I agree Adam should go but I don't think he will be going anywhere, I'll discount him anyway though. That leaves seven others. - Gerrard is injured more than not, plus he can play further forward. - Shelvey is still young and not quite ready. - Lucas as just been out injured for what will be eight months and may not be the same or may break down again (it happens). - Diame and Gylfi would need time to settle. - that leaves Hendo and Spearing. IMO, that is risky, especially if we play with three in the middle. It is a squad game so lets have a squad
From your list Aqua surely will go elsewhere (and doesn't appear to want to be here anyway so can do one), Shelvey is still very raw and Hendo needs more time to develop too, Lucas has just had a serious injury so will need time, Stevie has suffered with injuries and is getting older plus he may even play in behind a front man under the new manager and the jury is still out on Adam. I don't really see the point in shipping out a young lad who is hardly breaking the wage structure and always gives his all without making many mistakes personally I couldn't care less if Aqua goes so he'd be my starting point. I'd give Shelvey more time out on loan as well (maybe even see if The Swans want to loan him if we swipe The Sig)
Shelvey looking at last season appearances is better than Spearing NOW, a 20 yo better than a 24yo.He looks miles more composed than Spearing when he featured near the back end of the season, Spearing was the one who looked more RAW and hes 4yo older.Stevie is more likely to play nearer to our goal as he gets older, we probably wont play a 2nd striker next season,so he will have to play in midfield.As for hardly making mistakes, he/Spearing spent most the last 3 months of the season givin the ball away when not under pressure in his own half.Spearing givin the ball away cheaply cost us in the cup final,v man utd away, and v fulham home he did it about 6 times,and thats just off the top of my head The reason Spearing was so involved last season was Lucas Injury.If we get Diame , IMO we dont need Spearing full stop, I think he would even struggle to get Carling Cup games
