Which, considering Swansea have a 12 month agreement to stop Rodgers and Liverpoo nabbing their best players, is naive in the extreme of McNally, I'd have thought I'm resigned to losing Holt now, but what about some of the others, like Howson etc? http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/7798541/Lambert-free-to-raid-Norwich
I'm hopeful that most of our players are settled here and wouldn't want to uproot their families and move to Birmingham. Yes, we may lose a couple (other than GH), but I think the majority would want to stay and play regularly for the first team. Also, whoever takes over the reigns may well opt for a more regular starting 11, as opposed to the squad rotation that PL utilised so frequently.
Seems to me to be a bit speculative based on a single comment by Lambert, which was actually in reference to the question of whether he wanted to sign Holt. Even so, we'd get a good price for anyone we sell. That sort of contractual agreement is quite rare in football contracts, oddly, which is why it was such a surprise that Rodgers had agreed it.
The Daily Fail comes up with some tripe about PL not being interested in Holt. That will be the 'no smoke without fire' analogy at work, knowing them http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...4/Paul-Lambert-considered-Grant-Holt-bid.html
its a balancing act and i actually believe it is a mistake to put a transfer block on an ex manager. if he wants our players badly enough he should pay top dollar for them. the risk of putting a block in place is that if the player really wants to go you may not quite get the same level of commitment from them, and that's a whole season too! if any player, no matter who they are, how good they are, how important to us they are wants out, they should be allowed to leave, but as i say, it must be at an inflated price or its not worth it. players don't like seeing their chance of progression halted by something like that.
The danger period is now while there isn't a manager in place, hopefully that's only going to last a few more hours, a day at most. Once the new manager comes in players will want to work with him a bit before making the choice to leave. Right now though they could be looking to get out of a sinking ship. That said if we can get an inflated price why not consider it.
McNally has said he won't sell any senior players, however if we did it would be for a hyperinflated price In McNally we trust
Who cares really? As some have said, get good money for them and buy better players than we already have.:
Sinking ship ? I think we're far from a sinking ship BC. If we sign Hughton up as expected, I'm feeling really positive about the season ahead
the players will like hughton - he's a 'players-man'. wherever he's been the players have loved working with/for him so i don't think we need to worry too much. anyone who wants to leave will want to because of either ambition or money. that could have happened if lambert was manager too
I wasn't saying I think we are a sinking ship just that whilst we're rudderless the players might be tempted away. Assuming CH comes in today or tomorrow he's a respected manager who players will probably want to give a chance before deciding to blindly follow Lambert or get there heads turned else where. I too am very positive at the moment.
I guess it can also have a galvanising effect on the players, in the sense of they are fighting to impress the new manager, and they don't want to be seen to be disruptive by playing (extra) hard ball with wage demands etc.
I'm almost certain that why Villa wanted PL. he's got a reputation not just as a good manager but as one who has built a good team all with players from the lower leagues. Hasn't spent more that 4m on anyone. Far from taking our players I think he's going to be looking back to the lower leagues for bargains.
Theres was some fans on our board defending your CE but in 2 weeks he has: lied to your best player which now means he wants to leave invalidated Lamberts contract by refusing permission to Villa meaning no comp will be paid didnt get a clause stopping Lambert raiding your players for 12 months. He looks incompetent to me.

I think we'll possibly cash in on Holt but I don't think any player will be sold unless they don't fit into Hughton's plans. Even for over inflated prices. If Lamberts tries to bring in some of our players I think it'll be Russell Martin and David Fox, if Hughton wants them to stay, I highly doubt McNally will sell unless it's 3-4 times their valuation.
