That is a pretty positive article and it is interesting to see a slant on proceedings from the players agent, supporting Spurs position on the fee.

I wish we would just get on with it and sign him. Looked decent against England playing out of position so you'd imagine he'd be even better at CB. From what I've heard he is a strong leader (Ajax captain after all) and an excellent player, and from the interview he gave he seems like a guy with his head screwed on straight.
15 million Euros is about £12 million isn't it? Not unreasonable for a player who is by all accounts top quality and club captain. Not to mention he's only 25. So he could well be a player who is performing at the top level for club and country for years to come. He just has to keep on fulfilling his potential.

Good comment Notso and I am sure that all our thoughts are with DL and his family at this time.
To be fair I don't think that there was any public knowledge of such family trauma and the circs did mirror those from previous negotiations, hence some of the comments on this board.

It's not like this is the first transfer negotiation since Levy took over that has involved a lot of bartering, though.
Seriously, that was not worth posting for a myriad of reasons - mainly due to the numerous transfers that have fallen through over the years because of Levy's bartering. Numerous people were saying this was getting in the way of bringing in Vertonghen two weeks ago, which undermines the idea that his mother dying is the sole reason the transfer negotiations have stalled.
In other words, there's one stupid reply here, and I just quoted it.

yeah i heard about that and fair play..it will shift the responsibility for Levy understandably...but most were saying about bartering long before this sad news.

Ajax value their captain at €15million but it is thought that Spurs are reluctant to pay that for the defender, whose contract expires next summer.
But Mustapha Nakhli, who represents the Belgian, believes the clubs are getting closer.
He said: "I hope it will be this week. I think it will. We are talking to Tottenham."
Vertonghen stated his desire to move to North London last week, saying that the club's absence from the UEFA Champions League had not put him off the move.
He would undoubtedly be a good addition to the Tottenham ranks, considering he has the versatility to operate at left- back or in midfield, as well as centre-back .
And Nakhli appeared to criticise Ajax for holding out for a bigger fee for a player who has less than a year to run on his current deal.
He continued: "Fifteen million? Jan has a contract until mid-2013. So what do you think?"

You certainly did...your own!!, whats the thread called?...Vertonghen, that is all I'm talking about, we weren't talking about Levy's previous saga's till you brought it up trying to slide your way out of another ****arsed comment. Just give up will you!...zzz!
We'll see if Mr Know-alls next comment takes into account him knowing Levy's mum lives in Florida and he's been based there for months.
