Are we just going with a general montage, or a themed one?

So what do you want us to do DT?

Supply pictures? If so any particular size or quality?

Do you also need to know about the parentage of the pictures or are we not worried about copyright laws?

All we have is that the artwork needs to be 1920 x 600 px. The feather effect on the bottom and the sides of all the header images on every team page is either a mask or is generated by the code. You can only see the full width of the banner image of either large monitors or if you have your computer monitor screen set to a high resolution. The artwork needs to be set at 72dpi in a RGB colour space although i imagine that the admin staff of this site receive images that aren't optimised for web pages. i.e.: you could produce a brilliant high res design if you wanted which could be high resolution say 300-600 dpi (dots per inch) but it would still need to be optimised somewhere by someone controlling this site. As for pictures if they are available in any search engine then it's open season ... unless it clearly states so or is watermarked.

I have had one idea and some thoughts
The image IMO looks better if its dark ( look at the Arsenal board with RVP ) regardless of the subject just the colour
Remember that the left hand side of your image will be in view more times than the right ... If you make your browser smaller then you will see that the image has a cut off point where you begin to lose the words Queens Park Rangers from the right hand side ... the navigation gets ****ed up but thats just a poorly designed template and the is a limit to how narrow the site can be viewed. Its all rendered PHP which is its coding language which as its all data driven it needs to be or was designed like that when it was launched.

Anyway its up to the votes ... I did have one idea that maybe too arty but we are the flair team in this league. I envisaged a B/W scene from the film 12 angry men as this is a forum and its all about debate. I could then possibly take this scene and customise it with blue and whites i.e.: this example pose i may be able to find a history of different shirts for them to dressed in. Of course i need to add one woman ( beth)
The walls of the back of this shot may also work but having a coloured club badge on it and a few pictures? I could also replace a few heads with chosen QPR heroes? Stan Dave Thomas etc

I can even see Cerny in there (we would see characters of people from this shot) Cerny is he bloke with small glasses standing at the back

It would need a crop an a play but its a new idea

DT, I think that's an outstanding idea and exactly why you should have artistic freedom on this. I love the idea that our banner is completely different to everybody else's and references the forum as well as the club.
Assume we are all agreed that we have no need to have the clubs name in massive font, or at all, on the banner. On the iPad this is all I can see.

Dave, if you could make that work then knock yourself out! Brilliant idea. We are QPR, we are unique and so should the banner be to symbolise us. Love it <ok>

Of course DT should have freedom to fashion his own artwork BUT this should not preclude others from submitting their own contributions.

Personally I'd like four or five designs to choose from in a poll - but have we got that many people capable of preparing artworks within such a challenging spec?

I say this, not so much about the pixel sizing and resolution (which are both important), but with regard to the unusual focal areas being top and thin sides, with the remainder of the image ghosted to the point of virtual invisibility. If you set your screen up to 50% you can see the total image area and how much of the sides is out of normal view.

I would suggest we look at images submitted on this thread and include those that might suit the focal spec in the poll (e.g. Norway's photo of the SA Rd entrance on match day or the one inside the ground).

Having said all that, we need to bear in mind the fact that the site was set up before we got here and whilst the header space might afford a bit of club-related decor - it certainly wasn't purpose designed for it.

    As for the

Totally agree when everyone has had their input then we can act on the result of the poll

If we wanted a few ideas for the vote then would it be easy for Mr Thomas to do a few very loose mock ups?

I'm very aware that this is his day job and we're essentially using his good will to customise the board but, as far as possible, we shouldn't be turning his enjoyment of the site into a Busman's holiday.

I'm voting for Oddballs design...getting my own "woman" in the banner...then I have really made it!!!!

But more seriously...yes we are the flair team, the different team, the outsiders...so lets rejoice in it...go for it Dave.

But add the heroes...Stan the man, Rodney, big Les, TV, Bircham, Cookie, Cisse

Is Oddball an artist? Explains a lot.
