Football fixture pile-up waiting to happen!

Platini launches new campaign to eradicate racism from football matches?

The only sure way to do this is to have no foreign races or colours in the teams or in the crowd - otherwise it will always be there, however quietly it is portrayed.

    Thanks.

What i'm saying is that society is the problem, not football.

There are racists everywhere and there always will be - it's a fundamental sadness of the human condition. Xenophobia is the milder version but it will always be there.

What next? Stop a game because somebody swore? <laugh>

It only exists as a problem because not enough has been done to tackle it. If stopping high profile football games helps put an end to it then so be it.

The top teams face enough of a struggle to squeeze in their fixtures as it is - having to re-arrange a fixture everytime there is a racist incident is simply not going to work.

Well, they'll just have to root out the racists in their crowd and ban them for life and they wont have a fixture pile up.

hmm, I might start taking bananas to football, if we're losing 5-0 i'll just throw some on the pitch and have the game abandoned.

Surely the apostrophe isn't needed(or indeed, just plain incorect) in "referee's"? Anyway, who gives a **** about racism? If myself, Er and AfricanGer, who are black(ish) don't care about it, why should you milkybars care about it? Racists.

Good point - Platini hasn't thought that through. Whilst I agree with him that racism is wrong ( & not just in football ) - the game should continue. Offenders in the crowd can be dealt with by stewards & police. Stopping matches would cause mayhem. The players get paid enough & should be able to 'rise above' any insult.

It wouldn't, but it would prevent racist incidents at that game - of course i'm not seriously suggesting it, merely pointing out how rotten society is and how deeply rooted the problem is. <ok>
