Even if he does come back now you'd have to wonder who would take that first risk with a driver with now questionable ability. He would probably have to do a season in another formulae to to prove he physically can
Why? Neither Schumcher, Raikonnen or Massa did, and Massa had a head injury, far far worse IMO. I think a few days of testing will be enough, as I doubt he's been sitting on his arse since he hurt himself. If he's fit before the end of the season maybe a few FP's or a drive in something like the HRT
I would imagine all the F1 teams are going to be watching Kubica's rally. It's good that he has the confidence apparently to get straight back in a rally car but nerve-wracking at the same time for anyone who wants to see him back in an F1 car at some point.
Kubica thinks a 2014 return to F1 is possible:http://www.planetf1.com/driver/18227/8063259/Kubica-Back-in-Formula-1-In-2014
I've said elsewhere but to me that sounds like major progress. I don't know much of the rallying world but it would be good if he could compete in all/any remaining rallies of the year and then do a season of GP2 next year.
F1 would be for the better with Robert Kubica in it! Quality driver, hope he makes it back to F1 and to a top team as well!
please log in to view this image His arm looks a mess. He's racing again though, and racing pretty well if he's winning rallies, however minor. His latest surgery was only in June so it's well over a year that he was injured, he's probably nowhere near getting fully getting his strength back, hopefully it's just a matter of time before he's gripping champagne bottles with both hands, preferably in an F1 race suit.
Loeb's only semi retiring I think, pretty sure he's racing in Monte Carlo. Hopefully Kubica can get a drive though, and maybe do a bit of F1 testing if his fitness improves.
