I'm sure that there are some strong opinions out there about how quickly we change our kits and the choice of colour for some of our away kits, but it could be worse. I have to say first that I hate logos on shirts. Having said that unless FIFA bans it, which is not going to happen, then we have to accept the reality. But how far is this going to go? How far is too far? Changing the name of the club, has to be a no no surely! Changing the colours of the club is too much IMO but then we already see Spurs playing in Black and Sky Blue and Lilac! The supporters club of Cardiff appears to be happy with it so I suppose it's ok then. The Bluebirds in Red? A betrayal of their traditions? Yes of course it is. A good business decision? Probably. Just as long as they don't want Spurs in red!
I think there is no such thing as a good business decision when it wipes out over 100 years of tradition (club colours). I think it epitomises everything that is wrong with football today
Surprised they didn't just put the Malaysian flag on the badge. Sometimes I worry that with all these foreign owners we're going to end up with franchises moving around, like America.
Yes I had forgotten about them. They not only changed the name, they just stole the club. Not good is it! Changing the name of stadia, changing clubs traditional colours, using players as billboards, flashing light adds all round the grounds. So the answer PNP is that it already has gone too far. Football has sold it's soul to the highest bidder, so it's just like the country really. Great Britain inc. or will it get worse. Great Tesco Britain. Bell's Scotland. The United Distillers States. the worst thing about it is the horrible, corporate-type justifications given: The Cardiff is the capital of Wales and Wales has a red theme, that the Welsh dragon is red and (also) that red is a rich colour in the Far East. And this initiative is due to the Malaysian investors. I guess a dragon would make them popular out there too. (Will it, though? Are kids in Malaysia gonna start following Cardiff over Man Utd cos it's got a dragon on the badge?) In a side-note I just heard that there are over a million people in South Korea who have a Man Utd credit card.
I feel for Cardiff but unfortunately the owners can decide to do things like that this and unless the fans turn boycott games and refuse to buy shirts etc then it will continue to happen I think.
Wouldn't the red shirt with the dragon badge look the same as the national team shirt- without the logo of course. Read somewhere that a supporters committee told the club unanimously that they hated it- the club/owners ignored them and did it anyway! Hopefully football governing bodies wouldn't let relocations happen- or would they money does shout quite loudly. But completely changing a clubs' main shirt colour a no no for me.
Typical Taffs,red is their theme yet they choose a bloody daffodil as their national flower. Nothing to say on shirts etc...sorry,just thought I'd have a joke.
To think we all kicked up a fuss when our sponsors badge had a little bit of red in it, imagine how we would feel if they tried to change our shirts to red!
Yes and so did Man U and many clubs in their early days as they became established but it's not the same thing at all Luke is it!
1883-4: All navy 1994-6: Sky blue & white quarters, white shorts 1890-6: Red shirt, navy shorts 1896-8: Brown & gold stripes, brown shorts Most of our original kits have been used as away kits at some point since - we've had several navy away strips over the years, the white & sky blue kit was used for our 125th anniversary, and the brown and gold kit was out European away kit a few years back. Haven't seen the red one make an appearance, even though Spain nicked it thirty years after we used it...

i thought this too..much to alot of people's dismay i suspect, but i agree with the owners...and now it gives the team a very strong Welsh identity...they are always banging on about being the first Welsh club to do this and that...so the owner has gone one further. i love traditions in football..it is what sets us apart....and gives the club an identity.....and subliminally i cringe of the thought almost daily of one day waking up and reading somwhere that we wont be playing at WHL anymore.......so i totally understand the anger from the fans...but i also think this change is actually an improvement for that particular club for the reasons i mentioned in para1.
