    What with what happened to Cardiff recently, wondered what it would take for you to be happy for Ashley to change our strip colour?

    I thought about doing a thread along these lines... <grr>

    The thing is, if someone had posted a poll suggesting Mike Ashley would bin the name of St James' Park in exchange for making our stadium look like a tacky advert for Sports Direct, everyone would say that they would never have it.

    The bottom line is that there is nothing we could do to stop Ashley from changing our colours if he wanted to.

    We as fans, are completely powerless to stop anything of this nature happening whether we like it or not.

    I would feel as sick as I did about the name change of SJP, our relegation/manager merry-go-round or any other of the gaffs Ashley has come up with over the years.

    As long as the results are going well, fans will continue to show up wearing whatever kit Ashley flogs to us.

    Sad but true. <ok>

    Yeah I agree, was just wondering what it would take for it to be "acceptable". If Ashley said, yes, the colour will be red and white, but I guarantee this club will be the pinnacle of club football within the next 5-10 years, it becomes a little less (pardon the pun) black and white.

    A trophy is held for a season, colours are worn forever =)

    Not even if Newcastle were guaranteed to win the champions league+premier league for 200 seasons in a row. Black and White is in our blood (even for us adopted Geordies!)

    How can you guarantee anything anyway?

    City were 30 seconds from blowing the title after spunking something like £300,000,000 of camel-jockey money on their team.

    Makes no sense to drop your history like that. The stadium name you can live without (we know), but the club's colours? How do you explain that to your kids when they're watching footage of the old teams?

    But you may have seen a few veryveryveryveryveryveryVERY dark blue and white ones and not known the difference.

    The only truly black things are priest socks. <ok>

    If we changed to a very dark colour and a very light colour, we could just watch all games on TV with the contrast adjusted and we wouldn't notice!

    the people that have taken over at cardiff have totally wiped cardifs debt of over 70mill they havent got 1 part of the company to loan another part the money they have cleaned the slate

    Wouldn't work anyway, the whole point of the Cardiff thing is to flog shirts in Asia, if we did similar the huge domestic shirt sales would plummet. It would be folly.

    Wouldn't change it for anything was my first thought and I quickly answered the poll as such. Then I noted that you didn't say which Ashley would be giving the head! If its Anna or his ex wife (may be back together??) Linda then I may have to revise!!

    Changing the strip colours would be too far.

    Changing the club crest, It would still annoy me but if it brings in cash that's used to benefit the club then maybe.
