That's my impression as well in the recent article he gave to the YEP I think it was during the Hampden Park event day recently?
More to do with being taken over by foreign investors and that he'd rather wait with Bates until good local investors came in with British money.
When has he ever said that? As long as we don't waste money by, say, spending £1m on a non-league striker () investment in the squad is something we clearly need and something we won't get with Bates.
He made a huge fuss of it on our board when he kept on saying how we had 'dodgy owners'. Who are you to say it's a waste of money when the lad hasn't kicked a ball yet? He could be next seasons top scorer for all you know. It's a gamble and a rick, but it's something the board are willing to do and Nigel has approved it then we're happy.
Since when has "signing good players", as I wished for, equated to spending the kind of money Leicester did? You know, I don't want the white stinginess of Bates where there's not nearly enough money spent, nor do I want the black profligacy of Leicester which damages football. I want the sensible shade of grey in-between. And I never said I'd be happy to sit and wait with Bates in charge - it's time for him to go NOW - I just said my preference would be for local benefactors rather than foreign investors. If we do get rich new owners (and there are no indications we will, although they may well be foreign-based), I'll hope they aim for that shade of grey and don't see the club as a plaything or a marketing vehicle, and will write to them expressing that wish. This thread is about celebrating Bates leaving the club and hopefully with it all the harm he has done. Not about the identity of the potential new owners which hasn't been made public yet. Unless it's Freddie Shepherd or another absolute ****er, there's still hope for us, and I'll still celebrate in the manner outlined in post #1 paragraphs b), c) and d). If I've said anything contradicting that, please find the quotes and I'll be happy to admit I was talking ****. Does that compute? I've always hated Bates; my dad drilled that into me before I even properly understood what harm he was doing to the club.
With Forest looking more likely to find themselves rich new owners, Cardiff selling their soul and ourselves hoping for a much needed takeover the competition is certainly going to heat up next season. Sven and his miss spending might still come back to haunt Leicester next season
It's time. Our time is now. The time is nigh. Ah, **** it. Bates. I hope you are feeling the heat courtesy of the fans who you so despised and never took any notice of, and now they remove your money supply you have no choice but to either reverse some of your decisions or **** off. Before you die. I'm hoping you will **** off, and then die without having the chance to enjoy the proceeds. Yeah, I've been drinking, so just ignore lil' ol' me.
