What do think a suitable punishment would be for Rangers and Scottish football without being biased

That depends on what you want them punished for and who is doing the punishment?

I have said the SPL should fire them out for their cheating this season (just finished)
The SFA should stand over their punishment as it stands.

If and when the BTC hits, they should have their licence revoked. Every trophy they lifted during that period should revert to the rightful winner.

If it were us, I'd be ****ing disgusted and expect the exact same treatment.

The Scottish cup punishment is a no goer , same punishment as an admin error . Transfer embargo is definitely on the right lines as suspension and expulsion from the league are never going to happen . Six month and signing under 18's the other 6 months suspended but will come into play unless they pay off their Scottish football debts.

I think Craig Whyte and David Murray should be made to read some of harry's posts for half an hour.

Perhaps that's going a bit overboard.

I think they should accept the year long transfer embargo and fine, [though it will not be paid in full], and wait for the result of the btc. Any other penalties should then be decided, if guilty, then expulsion and tainted titles stripped from them. They cannot just get a slap on the wrist for all this, [if guilty] despite their pleas for leniency.

I'm in agreement with most of you banned for one year out of Scottish cup is a no no,I would like to see them put into the 3rd Division and let that be the end of it because at the end of the day they are cheats,Their supporters are saying it wasn't them but they seem to forget the celebrations they had when they won tainted cups and titles.

    Big TC ---- Written off.
    Small TC ----Written off.
    Ticketus ---- Written off.
    Football debts--- Written off.
    Duff n Phelps ----Written off.

Susan Thomson [face painting business] £40*00 ---Pay back.

    260 others ------ Written off.

    EBTs ---------- Acquitted.
    Double contractcs-Acquitted.

Keep RFC in SPL next season, give them back their 10 points so they start next season +10.

Either that, or just fu*kin NUKE EM. [my preference]

so traynor thinks a cup ban is sufficient punishment and could cost them $750k. he clearly is not aware of sallys cup record.

its a hard one if they go lenient on rangers then the whole of scottish football will be up in arms, if they take them to the clears the hun hordes will do what hun hordes do best and maybe throw in a couple of marches too.

I think many rangers fan get confused around the issue. They seem to think that they are being punished twice for the crime of going into administration, they do not accept that they were deducted 10 points for entering admin and the transfer ban was for bringing the game into disrepute.

The real issue is if and when the investigation into dual contracts comes into play. what punishment will the SPL hand down? do they strip them of titles and leave them in the league? or kick them out of the league? or do both?

In Australian Rugby league Melbourne Storm were found guilty of a salary cap breach as they operated dual contracts. They were stripped of titles and although they played every game that season they lost all their points for that season. http://www.nrl.com/melbourne-storm-breach-nrl-salary-cap/tabid/10874/newsid/58359/default.aspx. There is no relegation from the NRL. If the SPL handed out similar punishment would Rangers say that the SPL were being too harsh?

Yes, let's use Rugby rules from the other side of the world to punish Rangers. Whilst we're at it, why don't we add some long white poles on top of the existing goal frame and when Samaras hits one of his orbit-bound shots, we can class that as a conversion and award two points to Celtic.

For dual contracts the punishment is already there. Removing of titles and every game the illegally registered player played is a 3-0 defeat.

Samaras is off to the euro's , yet you want to have a dig at him . Once the dust has settled how many internationalist will remain at Ibrox?? I suggest NONE , you could only dream of having players of Samaras ability .

i am pointing out how when a team in a different sport were caught cheating, the league punished them. I would guess that sandy jardine would be in the papers telling all who would listen to his pish that it was outrageous that rangers had been stripped of titles and that the fans were being punished for what was essentially one mans fault <thepartyline>

David Murray should be hung, drawn and quartered...although, technically, there could be some difficulty with that.

Punishment? Come off it. Let's all forgive and forget. Let's put this all behind us and look forward to a fresh new season later this year. Don't let Celtic's perennial secondness cloud your judgement.

Suspension from the SPL would be the best option. For 4 games or upwards. There's a 12 point deduction to start with.

Being banned from the Scottish Cup would be a ****ing half-hearted joke of a non punishment which would suit no one apart from Rangers, and besides, it makes no sense whatsoever to ban them from a Cup competition when their "crimes" were commited in the SPL, the League Cup and the Cup. As harry says, you get kicked out of the Cup for a minor admin error and not even the Grand Master of the Ludge could argue that what Rangers have done is a simple error, it was blatant cheating.
