Hardly a rich history either way, but the 'bluebirds' will be offically playing in red next season. please log in to view this image please log in to view this image Sad times. Fans didn't seem to be too worried about it. Could you imagine the uproar if part of our potential takeover saw us change to red? Ah well, couldn't have happened to a nicer club http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/4356404/Cardiff-rage-at-new-red-kit.html
Another reason why I hate red!! How pathetic, can't imagine Leeds changing to that awful colour. Unbelievable!! They must think it will get them promotion.
There now known as the 'Red Dragons' How can you just give yourself a nick name? I thought this came after a few years & usually came from a third party? I'd be livid.
Bucks, to be fair Don Revie did something similar with Leeds when we changed to our all white kit... White was the Yorkshire Rose colour as Red is the Welsh national colour, so I can see why they want to "re-brand" and take on the whole welsh market. Either was they will always struggle to market Cardiff until they build the team and change the shape of the ball to an egg...
Give it a couple of years and the name Cardiff will be dropped as well. Not quite the same when they are also known as the "Blue Birds".
Leeds used red in their away kit for a while. At least whoever takes over Cardiff one day from this muppet will be able to switch back to blue and become an instant hero. So Ridsdale's legacy strikes at Cardiff. He brought in this owner who is now making radical changes. The one change he hasn't made is funds. City still have a huge debt that hasn't been settled as promised. Could be this change to red and dragons is his last roll of the dice to raise funds in China. Expect a spectacular fail and Cardiff to go into administration when they fail to gain promotion yet again. No Prem money and Tan will be on his bike.
All to sell a few shirts to the Malaysian dog eaters - don't they know that they only follow top 5 Premiership teams
It's funny. We're selling more BLUE shirts in Thailand than Manchester United are selling their RED shirts. But apparently red is a lucky colour in Malaysia.
Only because Man City won the league They have never heard of Leicester, but they do buy the Alsation flavoured Walkers
Bucks it was either that or they didn't exist but tbh I'd rather Leeds didn't exist rather than change their kit to red!!
Tan has invested very little so far, and this "promise" of £100m seems a bit far fetched. He hasn't cleared their debts, and is gambling on getting to the Prem. Another Pompey?
Billy he's maintaining the debts though if it wasn't for him they wouldve gone out of business!not sure what his plan was when buying the club cos to not invest seems pointless to me
This is bad news. Wales is a strange place. Not for nothing do the rugby team play in blue & are known as Cardiff Blues. The red is synonomous with Wales & not a particular area of Wales. All to do with uniforms worn by Welsh regiments. It won't matter a jot how much money some dodgy Malay puts in, I really can't see the locals taking to this change at all. Could be worse. We culd be taken over by a Chinese firm who see red as a lucky colour & change our strip to red!!!!!!! Don't think that would go down too well.
Cardiff - clearly just a small suburb of Wrexham. Apparently they will play in red at home and blue away. Wonder if it will be vodafone red though.
