Right... where do I start? Basically, since the leak of the supposed new home shirt for next season... well, I've been weighing up whether or not it could possibly be fake.

    Bear with me here.

Basically, I got to the point where I remembered a piece of software that could analyse photographs/images to see if they have been altered in any way.

So, I sourced the software and decided to run a comparison. The results are below.

The images above show inconsistencies in comparison to the original image. The first shirt has obviously been edited in Photoshop and for that reason the logos used show up as a bright white colour.

In the supposedly leaked image, the logos give off less noise (hardly none at all for the Northern Rock logo). This suggests that these logos haven't been copied from anywhere and that they are in-fact original and the leaked shirt image is a photo of a prototype shirt.

The noise that you can see in the leaked photo is normal, all colours (especially reds) give off noise. Whereas the fake image has obviously been edited because of the large volume of noise in the photo.

In depth, yes. Conclusive... I think so. But, the question is.. will they stick with this prototype or make alterations?

Interesting stuff, if the second one is in fact our new kit I like it, but it needs a couple more stripes.

So 'the noise' is around the stuff such as the badge and the puma logo. Which means maybe they are still playing around with where those two are going to go?

Not going to pretend to really know anything about this stuff, but from what you have said it looks like this is at least a prototype that is being considered. Surely they create more than one kit though? I mean if I created kits for a living I think I would have a play around and see what looked best, made a few different final shirts and this one might just be one thats leaked, but not necessarily the chosen/final one?

Hmm...fascinating. (It is very difficult to sound sincere on this, but I am serious) As you appear to understand all this, why does the noise occur?

Also, I'd argue the biggest reason that the 'new' shirt is a bit fishy is, firstly, it is very early for a new shirt, and secondly, it doesn't fit with any other Puma kit styles.

It also looks incredibly long and narrow... perhaps we're signing Peter Crouch?

Yes, there may well be. The theory that they leaked a photograph of this prototype to gage public opinion is probably accurate. The software results in this thread simply suggest that the leaked image is a photograph of a prototype shirt, rather than a digitally created image.

Well they should probably check not606, as most people on here were against it.

I dont really have enough about this sort of stuff to have an indepth conversation, but it all seems very interesting <laugh>

When you take a photograph, the image from the camera used to take it will be uniform. However, when you edit that image, it means that you're adding new elements to the photograph which are inconsistent in comparison to the original.

The supposedly leaked photograph is very uniform throughout, apart from detailed colour elements (club logo) because detailed colour always gives off more noise than white and black. So, this suggests that the photo hasn't been altered or enhanced and is therefore a photo.

Also, I've read somewhere that this kit has been custom made for Newcastle.

I tell a lie. Compare our shirt (particularly the collar) to the only other 11/12 offering from Puma, which is Bordeaux's new kit (I think officially):

When you post, there should be a button with a picture of a photo frame (right of a globe and left of a piece of film). Click that and Bob's your uncle.

It would appear so, however red gives off a lot of noise (according to the software), so that's why it appears to be bright.

Looks like a fairly decent kit.

BTW, having been a reader of old 606, I happen to remember someone posted a link to the new Peru kit, which looked mint. Now I can't find it anywhere. Can anyone help???
