i doubt you believe a single word you type anymore yorkie.

you're right in a way, we don't expect much, but what we do expect is a positive manager who will give us a chance of repeating the success we've had under lambert and hopefully build on it. he'll have a wage cap to deal with but decent money to source players. he'll have a good squad in place to work with and its an exciting time to be a norwich fan. what's vital for the club is to try and stay up again next season - thankfully it wouldn't be a disaster if we did go down but of course it'll make us much stronger if we survive again. by appointing hughton we've made the most smooth transition we could have done and without much fuss, unlike some of the bigger clubs managed this summer.

who did you think we were going to get? alex ferguson?

Wouldn't be gutted about hughton but don't find it particularly inspiring. Feels like we are on the rebound at the moment.

What's the betting McNally holds a press conference today at the same time as Lambert is officially unveiled as Villa boss, just to try and upstage him ? Wouldn't put it past him, it's just the sort of thing he'd do ! <laugh>

Totally disagree, I think Hughton would be an exceptional appointment. Just who would be an inspired appointment for you them gruffnuts ? Pep, perhaps ? <doh>

I think he is a great appointment. The only three realistic candidates I would consider was Hughton, Malky and Laudrup.

This whole anyone could of got Newcastle up, love to see them managing egos such as Nolan, Carroll and Barton. What else could he have done that year, you can't really criticize for winning the league albeit with the best squad that year.

If you look into the nitty gritty of other names mentioned. Holloway, Bruce etc. I don't think they are particularly suited to the job.

<laugh> that's what i thought. who on earth represents an inspiring choice if hughton doesn't? would love to know the answer! we can't afford to gamble - we are fast approaching our 2nd season in the premier league and we need to try and stay up so we can build from there. by appointing a wildcard selection or someone deemed as a gamble it runs the risk of undoing all the hard work lambert has done over the past three years. what we needed was a safe pair of hands who can manage with a budget, be tactically astute and who inspires the players. hughton ticks all those boxes, very few others do

Well if you are pleased or not. its looking more and more likely he's going to get the job. Sounds like he's bringing Calderwood and Trollope with him, or at least wants to, so that's the end of the Culverhouse rumours.

And wouldn't it be brilliant if he also announces three signings there too.

    Who's Paul Lambert again?

You've lost it here mate. Simpson has been very solid this season, Lovenkrands is a decent squad player, I'd be quite happy for us to sign him. Pancrate and Campbell were free transfers- so hardly wasted money! And Campbell did a pretty good job of adding experience- no worse a signing than Wilbraham, probably better actually. Marlon Harewood was a 3 month loan so that hardly counts and he score a goal every three games, so better than Pacheco!

Honestly, you're clutching at straws there, because even if those players weren't great signings, it's a small sacrifice to make getting the likes of Ben Arfa and Tiote. They more than make up for it! The only slight worry I have is that you could question whether it was down to the Newcastle scout system rather than Hughton, but ultimately he still will have asked for them.

There is a reason why Hughton is ridiculously popular with Brimingham and Newcastle- he is fantastic at shoring up a team on the slide and getting them to play to their full potential. His success at every club he's been to speaks for itself- none of the other candidates linked have been so consistent. He also has the air of calmness that's needed at Norwich- the man oozes respect. If you can't see that, there's no hope for you. Curbishley would be far more dangerous- he's been out of management for 4 years and hasn't got the record of Hughton. You forget that Norwich are in a position where we have risen far faster than expected, we have £10m in deferred interest to pay at the end of this season and we've been left a little bit ****ed over by our previous excellent manager. What we need is a man with a record of steadying the ship. That man is Hughton. Get through this season, even if just scraping and we will have a serious influx of cash. Hughton never quite got the chance to realise his potential at Newcastle and was far too restricted in everything he did at Birmingham, but unlike Lambert or Rodgers he never gives off the aggressive ambition vibe off. He seems far more likely to stick by a club if they stick by him- all the Birmingham supporters have said they love him and they wouldn't be surprised if he showed loyalty and stayed, but that he has to go because he deserves better than Carson Yeung.

I don't think enough praise has been given to him for what he done at Birmingham. Or recognised.

Transfer embargo most of season. Lost loads of first team players. Had to juggle the league with Europa League which stretched a relatively small squad. And still managed to get them in play off's.

Fantastic acheivement and were playing catch up all season due to loads of games in hand.

    [QUOTE=

if anyone is having any doubts, have a read of this blog by a birmingham fan earlier in the past season...hughton makes perfect sense and always has done. anyone who can't see that needs to have a bit of a think about what they are saying is the alternative.[/QUOTE

Far far from being an idiot -and if that's best you can do in response to someone's opinion, then trylooking a bit closer to home. Hughton has achieved nothing and doesn't meet McNally's own criterion of 'top tier' experience other than one season. 53 years old and a permanent manager for about three seasons, two of which have been in the Championship. Yeah, fantastic credentials. As for his transfer dealings, happy to discuss this in detail. So perhaps you can detail who other than the players I have mentioned represent success? I will then provide you with a list of failures - my wife is a Newcastle fan and season ticket holder, so I've been close to the club, attending many many games over the past 8 years. Turning your statement around - what has Hughton actually done to deserve the Norwich job? What has he done to satisfy McNally's criteron? Oh yes, your fall back the view of a Birmingham City fan -very impressive argument... Please explain what Hughton has achieved and why he deserves the job, in light of the publicly expressed requirements. Advancement of an argument based upon what you perceive as lack of alternatives is no argument at all.

I'm ok with Hughton, although Holloway was my first choice.I think he is underrated due to the clown aspect.Underneath all that he is an intelligent bloke who got a thin squad into the Premiership, played some great football and only failed to stay there by the thinnest of margins. The parelells between Blackpool and us go quite deep although we now have a better set up than they had.

I feel a bit about Hughton as I did with Lambert, maybe that's a good omen.

Don't be upset wonky, I think he's arguing with himself!

Very poor effort for a newbie, not doing much to impress the genuine Norwich supporters!
