    It was interesting to hear about Magpies midfielder Joey Barton claiming in midweek that he is the best midfielder in England. Good on him, and I don't mind things like that because he genuinely believes it - but, although he has had a really good season, I don't think he should be in the England team.

    Funny how he doesn't know why he shouldn't be in the England squad , so he just says it without elaborating.

    How is this man earning money from punditry! A mystery that will remain unanswered...

    Ofcourse, Wayne Rooney should be in the squad, because even though like Barton he has great ability, when Wayne Rooney shags prostitutes and elbows players in the face, it doesn't matter.

    Agreed. It seems to be one rule for player and a different for another. It wouldn't surprise me if Barton got into the England team regularly if he played for a top 4 club.

    He'd probably get a better chance if he was playing for Wigan, as it's not in the north east. But that's not the point, the point is his past is unfairly ruling him out of future opportunities.

    See the thing is, Barton is better than the bastards currently playing for England because he's admitted he's in the wrong and addressed his demons. People like Rooney are scum because they go around and do these things and then weasel out of them and act like they've done nothing wrong. At least Barton is man enough to own up.

    I hate how Capello said he picks players on form. Barry, Young and Carroll picked for what reason? Barton may have had a bad past but he has learnt (Apart from Pedersen incident). Him and Nolan deserve at least a place on the bench.

    Don't agree with you there, Ashley Young has been Englands best player in the past few months and a move to a big club will do him some good. Also which English Newcastle player would you put there? Houllier has not really helped him,
    Apart from that, I completely agree. I wish Barry would get forgotten and we used players like Parker and Young on a regular basis. Also Milner is playing better for England than Cash Citeh, shows what money can do to your head.
