Evening my fellow FFC followers Big news today regarding FFC just been released in last few hours Man City have lined up a £5m bid for Kerim Frei, amount of add ons not known FFC have asked West Ham for £5m for the services of Stockdale, West Ham have said no Pogrebnyak set to leave FFC after failing to agree contract terms, wants to remain in the EPL though. Thoughts people? p.s. are you all excited for the new kit release tomorrow?
And the asking price for Dempsey is a £5m but Everton can't afford his wages. However Arsenal reputedly can ... http:/www.clubcall.com/everton/fulham-star-too-pricey-1435619.html And we are reputedly chasing yet another striker from the lower divisions; Robinson of Derby ... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2154799/Theo-Robinson-wanted-Fulham-Wigan-Athletic.html I suspect these, and the ones above, are non-rumours that originally were twitter based. Not sure about it being a busy day
In the close season one news story is enough to make it a busy day! Not sure on the Frei one but the Stockdale and Pog deals look entirely believable to me. If the asking price for Demps is 5m then I'm shocked. I know he only has a year left on his contract but for that money we would be better off keeping him and letting him go for free in 12 months time. I believe that Everton can't pay his wages though.
True Bandit, but as I said a lot of it is twitter stuff not generated by journalists (although of course Agents may be somewhere in the background). The thing about the the price for Demps is that a week ago it was £10m (and this reputedly from the very same Arsenal) but since the stories at the weekend about Liverpool considering a £4m, his value has all of a sudden dropped. Even that £4m was suspect in that it was rumoured that Rodgers had £20m to spend and apparently chasing 3 players (Sigurdsson, Joe Allen and Demps). The price for Sigurdsson is known since he is/was on a promise to Swansea, so a dodgy piece of maths was done to arrive at the cost of the other 2.
Just out of curiosity here is an 'independent' valuation for Demps - http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/clint-dempsey/mwverlaufgraph/spieler_27577.html And for Frei - http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/kerim-frei/mwverlaufgraph/spieler_146844.html If you click through the other player's names you get this site's valuation for each. I'm not sure I disagree with too many of their assessments - at 'face value'.
Frei right now may be worth around £2m but I think we all know the kid has massive potential and if at least some of that is realised then he will be worth a lot more than £2m.
I'd much rather keep Frei than take £5m for him, regardless of add ons. Give it a season or two of regular first team football and his price will have doubled. I can't see him getting playing time at City when they have the likes of Milner and Adam Johnson on the bench. We sold a 21 year old prospect to Man United for 10 million, and Frei is younger with more potential. Mind you Smalling is English so that could have driven up his price. We'd be mad to accept £5m for Frei, especially if Clint is on his way.
Saved me the bother of composing a post. What he said (even if Adam Johnson may well be one his way from City, Frei will still get a lot more game time with us next season).
Exactly Bandit - which is why City will have bid (if they actually have) more than twice his face value plus add ons. However, I agree totally with FI and Captain. But at the end of the day it's down to what's important to the Club and what Frei wants. And of course, whether you believe the rumour.
Agree with everything above. If QPR paid £4m for Zamora then Dempsey's worth at least double that. I see no point in selling Frei - he's on a long-term contract and is only going to get better. I'm not too distraught about Pog leaving - despite a sensational start I don't think he's ever going to be prolific so if his salary demands are too high then the club's right not to match them. Can someone remind me why we didn't just accept the £1.5m that QPR were offering for AJ in January?
Because we were selling Zamora and it would have been madness to sell our only two senior strikers before we knew whether Pog would settle - if he hadn't, we would have been relying on the far-from proven Sa and Trotta as out-and-out strikers. Don't forget that when the window closed even with Pog lots of people here were complaining that we had left ourselves short-handed up front.
Thanks Captain - what a short memory I've got! Hindsight is a wonderful thing. In other news, that reputable purveyor of news the Daily Star is reporting that Murphy is set to sign a new deal.
Let's not forget we accepted Wigan's offer of AJ/Rodallega swap deal only for AJ to realise he wasn't comfortable moving his family there, only to now be considering a move to UAE!
What a shame that Wigan swap did not happen. Sa "'I've got no hamstrings" should be shipped out an all. All the rumours I hear are as usual second tier players. Maybe a tad harsh, we need quality.
In my opinion, a club needs four striker competing for places up front. You need two quality strikers in the first team, one decent one off the bench to make an impact and one with potential getting the odd game here and there. We have our striker with potential in Trotta and our half decent one on the bench in Pog, which means two good quality strikers should be signed this summer (Rhodes and Rodriguez would do) This means Sa is surplus to requirements. This management lark is easy.
Rodriguez has gone to Southampton for £6.5m, Bandit (posted on the other thread on 29th May). Huddersfield have gone public today saying that he wants to stay, so we should probably hear that he's been transferred in the next 24 hours. http://www.london24.com/sport/fulham/everton_fulham_man_utd_newcastle_spurs_west_ham_target_could_stay_claims_coach_1_1402776 Whether to us or one of the other followers remains to be seen - as you know we have a £5m offer on the table but Huddersfield are said to looking for £8m.
Fulham have history of doing very quiet deals. There was no forewarning, that I could remember, that we were going to take Pog on loan at the last transfer window. There were few warnings about Dembele, Frei, Ruiz or Kasami, as I recall. The only newpaper rumors that I can remember coming true recently was that Bobby Zamora leaving the team - and I suspect most of that noise came from Bobby or his agent. My point is that Fulham does its business quietly, and rumors about Fulham buying or selling rarely come true. The best non-sense rumor I can remember was during 2008, when Fulham were linked with then-Stuttgart striker Mario Gomez, who later joined Bayern Munich and scored about 50 goals last season. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...mez-linked-shock-transfer-Fulham-Arsenal.html
Ah, but DR, scoring that many goals is just showing off - very unbritish. Wouldn't have fitted in at all.
