Funnily enough the England manager who you ****s were praising to the hilt when we sacked him is the man that picked the squad.

If England go out in the groups be prepared for a lot of "Just give him time" etc.

I'll be interested to see how England fans react when Roy is trying to paper over the bad results and claim that going out of the groups isn't such a bad finish for England and that qualifying for the tournament was a good achievement and that its unrealistic to expect much more.

 

I think we will go out in the group stage to be honest, lose to france draw to sweden and draw to ukraine.

Anyway why would we have wanted you to sack Roy when he was doing terrible, he is a likeable guy aswel just a poor tactician imo.

 

When we go out in the groups, it will be nothing to do with the manager. It'll be to do with the players being banned / injured / disinterested / utterly ****e. Much like it was with Liverpool under Roy as well

Isn't Swarbs being Sarcy and just stating that the bans were excuses Roy used at Liverpool and will use again for England, I dont think he was having a pop.

I think it'll be the press that turn on him, not the fans. The press wanted Redknapp and when they didn't get him spat the dummy and the knives are definitely out already. Any sensible supporter will see that Woy has his hands full with this squad and will surely realise it's extremely difficult to get success in the euros. Sacking him would be insane. It'd be like sacking a club manager after five months for failing to turn a ****e squad into world beaters, utterly ridiculous.

I think you will be right re the press hammering Roy... I think he has made a rod for his own back the way he has handled the Rio situation and Henderson. In his favour everyone is expecting us to do **** so when we do maybe he will get away with it..

He has made a rod for his own back, one or two of his calls are questionable but he really has got a **** pool of players to work with so he's done what he can with the players available.
He's been made to look a fool with the Rio/Terry saga though. His claim that Ferdinand won't last through the tournament is absolutely valid but it is also obvious that his hands are tied on this one. It wouldn't have taken much for him to explain that Jones will now be deployed as a centre half and Kelly is there as right back cover and that's how he sees it, the press can then **** off and deal with that how they want.
Instead he's blundered round it a bit and the air of suspicion won't go away that it's down to them saying both Terry and Ferdinand aren't to be in the same squad.

Anyway, **** it. We've no chance so he starts with a clean slate in qualifying for the world cup and if he's **** during that then he's there to be shot at.
