hes not saying anything new though is he? the football world is full of Hazard's who have no loyalty etc etc.

ive been thinking hard about this stuff since the season ended.. and id rather finish 5th and have players that want to play football for us...all this hype and tripe about CL football..i think its overated.

i still believe Newcastle had a better season with us...they finished a place below us but they unearthed some gems for peanuts...id be happy with that...ive never lived a life where i could throw money to get what i want...so i appreciate things being done with other intentions bar money at heart...i want us to go all out to win the europa...that superstar Falcao took it seriously enough to bag 15 goals in last years tournament.

i honestly couldnt give a crap about CL.....ill just follow my team wether they go all out for the Carling or the bloody CL...i just want to see a team that enjoys football...if i was a Newcastle fan..id be damn proud.

Agreed. It's always all about Harry. He seems to be trying to garner opinion in his favour. I'm afraid that, for many of us, it's just having the opposite effect.

  3. There will come a time when all sensible Spurs fans will see that Redknapp is now become an embarrassment to us.

If you listen carefully Harry is saying that CL qualification is over rated when it comes to retaining and signing players, not the actual participation as a club. Is is easy to mis understand Harrys mumbled interviews at times and I find it hard to believe that any Spurs fan would actually believe Harry meant that the way it sounded.

The increasing clamber on here for Harry to be replaced is madness in my opinion, some people need to remember where we were under the Ramos / Comolli farce and where we are now. Yes, Harry did want the England job (not many English men wouldnt) and the speculation surrounding it did (whatever anybody else says) make our players lose focus and subsequently 3rd place. The list of candidates looks good but I wonder how many would do a better job than Harry...... probably very few if any.

Harry does have his faults but overall has improved us every season without massive investment and many of our players are no doubt here because of Harry, remember the managers we have had who couldnt speak English (Ramos) or thought they were a better player than the players (Hoddle)... the grass isnt always greener.

Be careful what you wish for.

  6. Most of us would wish he simply kept his trap shut, Little Luke.

  7. With respect, CB, all of us on here remember only too well what happened under Ramos. He completely destroyed the spirit in the squad, so much so that pretty much any English manager coming in would have lifted us out of the doldrums. As it happened, it was Harry who got lucky, and has since milked all the credit. Few of us believe that only Harry could have got us this far, since all of us on here also remember the consecutive 5th place finishes under Jol, who had a far less balanced team than we do now, and he had to do what he did without Bale (who, if you recall, was considered a bit of a Jonah).

'Arry if he wants it, which it sounds like he does.

If we give him a new contract I hope it includes not running to the press every ten minutes though. I don't care if he's peeved with Levy, he shouldn't have given an interview like that.

Not sure if he's capable of not running to the press. It really annoys me at times - his comments really hit wide of the mark more than they should.

I think one thing we can all agree on is a decision needs to be made now one way or another! Speculation around our manager ruined half our season, i dont want it to ruin our summer and next season

It occurs to me that possibly Levy is quite happy for Harry to resign, and go to the sands, or wherever. That way he gets rid of him, and saves the £3.5mm, or so, that it would cost to pay up his contract. Just a thought. It used to happen all the time in my old business. If they wanted somebody out, they would try their best to get them to resign of their own free will. Saves all the compensation payments.

And if somebody comes in for him, then they'll have to compensate the club, NSIS.

Yeah, I was saying this as soon as the season finished. Give him the option to commit and if he doesn't take it then I think it's more dangerous to keep him and have speculation over him with any managers sacked at other clubs, as well as having a man in charge of our team who isn't thinking about the long term as well.

Did anyone else see the irony in him saying that he was concerned about the effect it would have on the players next season if he only had one year left and he might not be around the next season? It's barely a month after he said the England speculation had no effect on the players and our poor form that coincided with it.

Not if Harry resigns. If he resigns, no compensation is payable. HE has broken the contract. But yes, if another club approaches Levy looking to take him...perfect for Levy. Harry gone - plus compensation.

Pretty sure that's not true, NSIS.
Lambert tried that and his resignation was rejected, while Norwich dealt with Villa for compensation, but I don't think it works in general, anyway.
Nobody would ever have to pay out for a manager otherwise, as they'd all just quit.

I'm just curious what do you guys think about this:

What if Hodgson was sacked right after the EC because England didn't got through the group stage(according to many posters on this forum not that unlikely) would 'Arry get a phone call from the FA? And if so, how would you rate him if he had to chose between England and Chelsea?

i may be wrong but im sure he said this after the fulham game..as he also said

'Spurs are my team, this is my club'

i dont know whats going on in that head of his...but its not healthy for our team.

Yes, theoretically, the club could hold Harry to his contract, and stop him working anywhere else for the one year. How enforceable that would be in the middle east, I'm not so sure. In practice, some form of compensation would be negotiated. It depends how keen Levy is to see the back of him quickly, and get a new manager in. This works both ways. Levy can't move on, whilst Redknapp is still legally under contract as the manager.
