    .....and once you have the independence you want from us, I`m going to put an embargo on your Scotch supply. And watch out Fran, once he`s got rid of us, it`ll be the IoW next - he`ll stop at nothing !

    And then he'll want Hampshire to secede from England.

    On a side issue I was disappointed with the BBC's coverage of the river pageant as they told us nothing about the boats. Didn't tell us anything about the action that the Dunkirk boats had been involved in. Told us there were historic ships but then told us nothing about them. Stephen Fry said Sky News did it better, so thought I would check. Yes, disrupted by adverts, but the commentator knows the names of the people such as band masters and knows what people are doing and has researched the proper terms (or someone has). BBC have lost their edge in big events like this.

    Ha-ha ! - then when he tries to gain entry to Hampshire from Berkshire, he gets turned away by Pompey-supporting border control !

    "We love our Queen,
    We mean it, maaaan!"

    Sung 35 years ago by a guy now best known for advertising butter whilst wearing tweed. Of course, we also love our eccentrics (take a bow Godders).

    No, I hadn't realised. I took the whole thing as a tribute to her majesty. Especially the lines;

    "God save the Queen,
    the fascist regime.
    She made you a moron,
    potential H bomb."

    Good. Just checking. It's surprising how many people are able to misinterpret such obvious lyrics.

    Easy, try it for size, it doesn't hurt a bit. Liz is a Saint supporter, made sure that she got the best seats in the house in 1976.

    Absolutely right, hate to say it but Sky did a better job, never thought I would live long enough to say that, both sides were guilty of fixing the camera on the commentator rather than what was going on behind them. Imagine Match of the Day with the camera pointed at Gary Lineker with the game going on behind his ears!

    Trouble is that there is nothing to discuss at the moment, (I have yet to get any enthusiasm for the Euro's), besides I like to know what makes other posters tick.
