i find it insulting to the player to be honest, he's here to play football not sell shirts.

He's a cracking player, ripped the pish right out of Bayern in the German Cup Final. I'm disappointed to see him sign for Man Ure.

There will always be some morons saying these things to WUM people.

It is evidently not true in this case but some clubs have done it in the past.

Andy Carroll has better 'stats' than Wellbeck, does this mean he is better than him? <ok>

No, Welbeck is already better than him and will be important for England in the next couple of weeks.

So 'stats' don't matter then? If this is the case then why did you refer to the 'stats' concerning Hazard and Kagawa? <ok>

You were not 'only saying' it though were you? You used the information as a way of showing that Kagawa is better than Hazard.

However, when I used the information as a way of showing that Carroll is statistically better than Wellbeck, you retreated and are now basically saying that statistics don't matter!!!

    Make your ****ing mind up..

Kagawa link up play with Hernandez/Rooney/Welbeck is something I look forward to. With Nani we now have 2 flair players. Does this mean a 4-3-3 system? Carrick/Scholes/Cleverly would excel in a 5 man midfield.

Most of Kagawa's goals and assists were in the Japanese league so no, he doesn't have better stats.

    Nowhere near Hazard's ability.

    He does.

In the last 2 years Carroll has played 80 games to Welbeck's 79.
Carroll has scored 23 goals to Welbeck's 22.
    Carroll has 8 assists to Welbeck's 6.

Prior to that Carroll played 75 scored 23 and assisted 10, Welbeck played 32 scored 7 and assisted 3. However, these stats cannot really be compared (even though Carroll again comes out on top) because most of Carroll's goals in that period were in the Championship and nearly half his games were as sub. Whereas Welbeck's were as a sub or in the Championship with PNE.

So, if you compare the last two seasons when both players were playing in first teams in the PL, Carroll's stats are better!

    <ok>

I know stats do not represent the whole story, hence my original comment about them on this thread, but the funny thing about these stats is that Welbeck is playing for a team that creates a lot more chances and has a lot more possession than Liverpool and also Carroll is regarded by most people to be utter ****e! With this in mind, where does that leave Welbeck?

They both won player of the year in their respective league's, and most people think the Bundesliga is a lot stronger than the French league, so it may be a closer call than you think.

Carroll started 29 times this year, that means he started 58% of Liverpool's games...thus negating your childish comment (by the way, why do you refer to Liverpool as Loserpool), are you six years old or something? I imagine you are a grown man actually, can you not act like one and refrain from such terminology?

Also, both were considered good enough to start most games (when fit) for their respective teams in the PL in 2010/11, that was the year that they BOTH became regular PL players and thus that is when you can start comparing their stats in my opinion!

However, according to you no comparison can be made unless players are the same age...so Jones and Smalling cannot be compared, and also the recent debates about who should/should not go to Euro 2012 could all have been sorted out if we had followed your approach to comparing players...

Terry or Rio? No debate or comparison as Rio is 2 years older and thus they cannot be compared!
Carrick or Henderson? Cannot be compared as Carrick is older!

Anyway, trust me, if the stats favoured Welbeck you would not be so dismissive of the them, because on this board, stats are only relevant when they favour United players, when they do not favour the United man they they are referred to as irrelevant/pointless!

Finally, I am going to watch 'Good Will Hunting', it's a good film and I like both Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. I would suggest that Damon is the best actor, however that would be ridiculous as he is 2 years younger than Affleck and thus you cannot compare them. <ok>
