The owner of Wigan says that the scousers have indeed offered Martinez the manager's job. But the scousers Chief Executive says it is a lie and that Whelan is a comedian. Who would you believe? The scouser or the Lancastrian. The choice is yours.
Theres an old saying. Scousers lie. There are other sayings but none of them are pie eaters lie. Make of it what you will.
It is more credible that Martinez was offered the job but because of the director of football post that the scousers were recruiting at the time, RM turned the offer down and th scousers moved on to Rodgers.
I think Rodgers was their 3rd choice, I think Klopp was first choice but he was never going to leave Dortmund for Liverpool, and Martinez second choice. Rodgers is a promising young manager but I think it's a huge risk putting him in a charge of a Liverpool team that needs a massive overhaul, Martinez would of been the better choice for that job in my opinion.
It's all a big misunderstanding. In his native Uruguay the term "comedian" (or "komidyan" as it is locally known) is actually a term of endearment and means "a person of virtuous nature, who does not tell lies". It's just the nasty English people painting the most successful club in the history of the universe in a bad light again.
Owner of Wigan, a respected chairman or Scousers Chief Executive a hub stealing bin dipper* You do the math *made up, but may be correct
Why is this on the United board? I like to debate matters concerning United on this board...if I wanted to discuss Liverpool or Wigan, I would go on the respective board! So, why is this on the United board?
Because it is a matter of great national interest. As it is the diamond jubilee it shows we have an interest in each other's welfare...accusing someone of being a liar could be detrimental to one's health haha
Anyway, who do YOU believe? What was Martinez offered when he went all the way to the US? Hardly credible he would travel all this way and spent so much time only for n interview which he was offered 'nothing' according to the scousers CEO.
Whelan's back peddling now and saying he never said Martinez was offered the job. Looks like on this occasion the scousers are telling the truth.
Clubs have always some get out clause which they turn to when the player or manager they are chasing turn them down. Martinez may or may not have been offered th job. Only the CEO and Martinez will know but most people including Rodgers believe that Martinez was first choice. It was only when Martinez was out of the frame that Rodgers was interested. He gav an interview in South Wales to that effect.
Erm, who do I believe, Whelan or Ayre? Well, one of them has said the other one was lying and making things up, and the other one has started to backtrack and insists now that he never said Martinez was offered the job! So, with that in mind, I would suggest that Whelan was probably the one who was lying! I also remember Whelan stating around the same time that Fergie was going to retire through health reasons at the end of next season, something which Fergie through his friend Charlie Stillitano has refuted...do you think Stillitano or Fergie (or both) are lying? Seeing as you seem to be going out of your way to defend Whelan and his comments as if there is no reason for him to lie about stuff, I guess you think Fergie is talking **** to his friend and Whelan has got it spot on again, I mean, why would he say something that is not true?
Can you provide the link(s) for this please? I haven't seen anyone officially stating these facts that you have revealed...I must have missed them! Thanks in advance
As for the interview and offer/non-offer, you seem to be under the impression that everybody who ever travels to a job interview is either given the job or offered 'something'. Is that what you really believe? If so, you are a complete tool.
