Are both options to be performed with a scalpel? Because I imagine being killed with one would be slow and painful. I'll take the vasectomy as I really quite value my life. I'll live forever if I have anything to say about it.
I am going to sleep on this and discuss it with Fran in the morning. Sleep as best you can for your fate awaits you in the morning in the guise of an elderly lady from the IoW. Good night.
Hang on a bloody minute! Godders and Fran are giving Joe a vasectomy with a scalpel? In the morning? This place just gets weirder every day.
The Queen is just for show. I don't agree for a minute that the Monarchy should be involved in politics or even define the political stance of the population. I just appreciate the Royals for the identity they give this island, not the ideologies. Getting rid of the Queen would not answer any problems, and there would be a huge list of other countries queueing up to have a tourist attraction like her!! Don't see why the differences in opinion need to create such a patronising response (St. Godders). Maybe you are a tw@t and can't help it. Do you blame the Queen for that, too?
I totally agree with everything you have said. Even if we got rid of the Monarchy we still don't have what I would regard as a real democracy where all are represented. For that we need PR to be introduced. But leave off Godders, he's alright most of the time!
Shame about PR. It's clearly the fairest system, but it's inevitable that a government would have to cut its own representation in order to introduce it. Therefore it will probably never happen.
Most of us, most of the time, forget just how lucky we are in this country. Free to criticise our system of government, free to campaign to change it, free to protest peacefully, free to join a Trade Union at work, free to go on strike in disputes with our employers, free to vote out the government. These freedoms have had to be fought for over centuries; tyrants at home and abroad have been overthrown or curtailed, including several Kings (eg John, Charles I) one Lord Protector (Oliver Cromwell), several emperors (most notably Napoleon), a Kaiser and a Fuhrer. If at the end of all this, we have retained a monarchy devoid of all real power, then there would have to be a very good reason to get rid of an institution that has survived for so long, through so much upheaval. The monarchy continues only because it is the will of the majority of the British people that it should do so. As the will of the people changes, so will the monarchy change, or be forced to leave. I'm pretty sure the Saxe-Coburg Goethes know all this.
