Some people have a very fragile sense of morals. I dont think violence is acceptable except in self defence, just because Bartons abit of prick doesnt give a reason to smack him. In that case where do you draw the line how do you decide who deserves to get smacked. In this country we have a justice system to punish people that should never be taken in to peoples hands. I expect everyone defeding the action to be ok with getting smacked in the face if they act like a prick at work and are viewed by many as a nasty person.

Correct. As Meowth says, the person who hit Barton, is probably not so different from Barton himself.

Did Barton not realise that by going to a night-club in Liverpool he was opening himself up to an assault? If he needs to go out for a night out he'd be better off taking himself off to Paris where he is unlikely to encounter guys who want get "even" with him!

Bit of a prick is a understatement and a half. Beating up your own teammate on the training pitch. Beating him so bad it injures his eye socket and jaw. Then stubbing a cigar in a young lads eye. Plus many other things he has done but got away with.

Not saying it was right him getting a slap, but you could see it coming.

Yeh I agree you could see it comming, dont get me wrong i'm not exactly really worried about poor little joey. Just saying the principle of taking the law into your own hands to 'punish' certain people is wrong. I dont think you are dissagreeing with that to to be honest so I agree with you.

The problem with Joey is where he has a history of being a nob and giving the billy big bananas on the field he has set himself as a target....only he can change it but alas no he wont.

It's not something I would condone, but it was almost inevitable that it would happen one day. Tbh, I'm surprised more hasn't happened to problem footballers.

If he wasn't a footballer, he'd just be one of many Bartons in this world, who seem to think that violent retribution, is the proper Barton answer and Barton justice, to violent aggression.

Once again sorry, to all the many lovely Bartons among us, who go through life with peace and goodwill to all.

    Not just Bartons.

Get this guy out of football ASAP. What he doesn't seem to realise is that young lads see footballers as very much heroes, role models and someone to base their behaviour on.
