It's hard to see a player who has so much to offer to the team left out for political reasons which is clearly the case with Rio. Ferguson's comments about Rio not being able to play the required amount of games were said to protect him and gave Roy a way out which he certainly needed. SAF is no dummy and knows what damage this could do to Rio's reputation so he's made an excuse for him. Anyone who truly believes not replacing Cahill with someone of similar or a better standard in a tournament as good as big as the Euro's fails to see the value of attempting to replace like with like. Being an England fan doesnt mean blindly following whatever you have to, for the past few years I have refused to watch england as I dont like being put to sleep but being english I do hope one day we sort it out. Not that we win but that the passion returns to the game. Passion killed by inept foreign and native managers aswell as a corrupt and **** FA who know as much about football as I do about the history of modern art, Id rather england played like Scotland, Wales, Ireland and enjoy it than how england play now or have over the last 8 years or so. 2006 was the last time I watched england and enjoyed it, and thats because I was pissed and it was a glorious day weather wise. 2 games.....2 friendlies which like qualifiers over the years have given England a false sense of greatness. Yes they won 2 games but against a team who didnt even qualify for the Euros and I dont Norway. Hardly Spain and Germany is it.
