I agree that it's not particularly nice to see, but it has become the norm since players have gained more and more power, especially good ones. What the **** do you want the fans to do about it, it's not like we are empowered are we!
I'm glad you fixed the error otherwise this thread would have been totally ruined I tried to fix it but for some reason the title can't be edited so I'll have to wear the dunce hat for eternity.
Sorry but Nani is the most gifted player at UTD. so say most of his team mates SAF likes his what I call 'plodders' so the likes of valencia, oshea, park etc or Irwin in the past. The flair players dont get to show their flair and ultimately leave UTD. see veron, Berbatov, the likes of what Ando has become and of course Nani on the left when he has been lethal for Portugal in a role we have been crying out for THIS is why we suffer in Europe, where often flair players win the cup rather than the best teams. This IMO is the same often in international tournaments too To let Nani go would be best for nani, as he is being wasted at UTD playing second to Valencia who is in essence a 1 trick pony and crosses into the box regardless of players being there What I find most frustrating is that rooney held the club to ransom, nothing nani is saying suggests this. Yet everyone is up rooneys arse and prepared to let our best player go
It's pretty much standard in every industry when you reach a decent level. I used to work in management consultancy, where bitching to head hunters and making thinly veiled threats about leaving to increase your worth was par for the course. Half the people I knew actually took the offers they got from other companies into their annual salary negotiations and their attitude was "match it or I'm off". It worked more often than not, and they ended up getting a lot more more than the good little employees who went into their reviews and accepted whatever offer they were given. Whether it's morally right or not, football is hardly the only place it happens.
I don't want to see Nani leave and I don't think SAF does either. I agree with what you are saying though, but this may be because SAF has focused on winning the league first and foremost and Europe being a secondary consideration. TBF Veron had plenty of opportunities and failed to produce, unlike Anderson on the otherhand has been asked to play a totally different game (although no one was complaining in his first season). As much as I like Nani though, he's very inconsistant and that's why I'd imagine SAF feels Valencia is a safer option. TBF to Valencia I believe that he has been outstanding for us and it is very easy to pick up on his one footedness as being a huge negative but placing the ball in the box seems to work pretty well for him and us and another important factor is retaining possesion. Personally this is where I feel Nani lets himself down as he is often too easily dispossessed.
A lot of assumption there, I`m sure thats how negotiations are concluded without anyone being held to Ransom.United will only pay what they believe is right, so its their valuation of his worth against his valuation of his own. Name a better winger in European Football?
In the last 2 years for club and country Nani has provided 60 goals. Either scored by himself or created by him. They only player contributing more than him to there clubs are the likes of Messi and Ronaldo and a few select others. Most of them if any are not wingers. Valencia and Young have contributed about 50% of what Nani has ( thats for anyone who thinks either are better than Nani ). The 60 goals/assists have come in just 93 matches. 60 in 93........# World Class, there is no doubt.
Shwan we would still be under 50% in terms of wages to revenue so its hardly a problem paying him that. Its not like were paying a player who has earned this money a silly amount. Hes been here years, worked his arse off and proved many wrong. Hes worked himself up to the very top level at United and deserves his reward. If it was a player coming in who had proved nothing then yes, its mad but Nani has proved plenty. He deserves it as much as anyone can deserve £130k a week. Much more than some plastic surgeons or bankers anyway.
^^^^ this Everything is relative. If someone is prepared to pay him x millions then he is worth that amount. Unless Nani is expecting the same as messi or Rooney, I'd pay him an increase. City would snap him up.
Debt payments are not counted in FFP as they are used to reduce debt not increase it. Also Nani being our second best player and our most talented means that if others want similar wages they will need to show why they deserve it like Nani has done. Only Rooney has contributed to more than Nani in the last 2 .5 seasons.
No it doesnt. Where on earth do you get this from? Nanis last contract was signed years ago when he was a bit part player and was still only very young. He is now a vital part of our team, a team that in the last 3 years has won 2 titles, reached the CL final and lost the title on goal difference. Hes due a new contract and I seriously doubt hes going to accept the same level ( the sort of wages average players are on is what Nani is on £60k ) and theres no chance he would accept less. If a player has proven their worth like Nani has ( more than almost every other player at United ) and has become a integral part of the first team its only natural they get a new improved contract. Ronaldos first season of brilliance saw him get a massive new contract and nobody said anything. Nani has had 2 and a half excellent years and suddenly its an issue. Is it ****! If another United player who feels they are underpaid or are due to renew contracts soon can show how they have done more for United in recent years than Nani then they will be welcomed into SAF's office to chat about it I am sure. Obviously this wont happen as nobody bar Rooney has contributed more and Rooney already earns more. Vidic also earns more as does Rio, Fletcher, Young ( yes Ashley Young earns more than Valencia and Nani.... ), Carrick, Evra.
Only bad mark against Nani is his consistency. When he's on top of his game, he's unstoppable, but for every good games he has, there's at least 2 mediocre games.
Consistency is there, people are clouded by how they used to judge him. Hes our most consistent winger and 60 goals/assist in 93 games ( now 61 in 94 after scoring last night ) I think 2 goals scored or created every 3 games is about as consistent as you can get.
No, there are probably only 4 or 5 specific places he could get that on earth. Not saying he's not hugely talented, but you need some perspective.
