Hatem Ben Arfa...? - Do we really need to spend all the 35 mil?

  1. Would you rather he played a few games before the season ends, or not risk him and rest him until next season?

Personally, i think it would be best if we did play him before the end of the season.

I think if Hatem Ben Arfa makes a significant impact, then we there's no need to sign big on the likes of Gervinho. We should play Ben Arfa so he has the chance to show how he is going to improve the team. Ben Arfa at his best is probably worth 12-14 million, and we got him for 5 million because he got an injury that looked to keep him out for very long period of time.

I'm not saying as soon as Villa or even Man Utd, but i think Liverpool and Blackpool away sub appearances should be considered. Atleast if we do play him now, we have time to buy another player if we feel we need to, if Ben Arfa doesn't turn out to be the fantastic player we think he could be next season, we will have to wait until January to strengthen again.

If Ireland and Ben Arfa discover good form in the team, then i don't see the need to sign another winger/creative mid. We have plenty of good midfielders and cover.

I don't think we really need to spend the 35 mil.

We've got 3 good keepers, if Ben Arfa and Ireland do the business we have bulk loads of quality in midfield and enough to challenge for Europa easily. We have 3 great defenders. I believe Steven Taylor is an excellent CB potentially and if he could find long term fitness again, i'd have no worries about that CB position, as his attacking player is fantastic, he looks like a 5-7 goals a season defender! His ability on the ball, his pace and his overall defensive quality is excellent, but you never know when he's going to be fit.

So i reckon it's not worth the risk, and we should sign a centre back. I'm not happy with Williamson long term. Taylor and another quality CB should battle for the place, and Williamson as cover, aswell as young talent.

A new striker and a new CB is what we would really need. If HBA and Ireland turn out to be good additions, then this would give us alot of freedom to spend big on a striker, and get a very good one indeed. 10-12 million quid i reckon it could cost us, but i trust Pardew and our brilliant scouting system to find one. Then i reckon 7/8 mil on a CB. Then perhaps 4/5 mil on a utility player that can cover RM/RB. Raylor is a **** RB, and after Simpson we've got no quality there. And also, i think we could get Ireland for 3/4 mil, as he isn't doing **** at Villa

I reckon we only need to spend around the 25 mil mark tbh.

    Thoughts on this?

This is my 5th article today, sorry, but i've been extremely bored today.

i'd be happy with that PROVIDED that they give Barton and Enrique new contracts, using some of the left over money.

The £35m will not all be spent on transfers. The money is also going towards wages etc. so there is no way, even if we needed to, that we would spend £35m on signings. We will spend probably around the £20m mark, possibly more if we sell a couple of players (Smith/Routledge/Xisco - free up wages and get a small fee for them).

There is no point risking Ben Arfa again this season, what would we gain? Nothing that is worthy of risking a player who isn't at full fitness. Wait until next season, he will be like a brand new signing, be raring to go, and be ****ing excellent.

You really need to get a job, for all of ours sakes. Its been sunny, couldnt you have gone outside or something?

To be honest as far as first XI players go, I'm gonna go for spend big on Gervinho and then Sow/Ba or some someone striker. And then the rest can be cheaper squad players. Rondon for like 5m Callejon for like 3m? Or the other way round I can't remember.
Taiwo on a free if Jose leaves. Therefore no spend there. If Jose stays, even better.
Larsson on a free, no spend there.

So yeah, no need to spend all the money, as there's a decent free market out there!

Because I have faith in him as long as we dont rush him into first team football too soon. Rushing them can prolong the injury and ruin their careers.

Would be nice for you to spend at least 20 million, but ashley has his hands on it so you will have to see.

Unfortunatley, I agree with with Tash.

The only player we need is a quality striker, and any decent players for free we can find.

    Dan Gosling?

Crouch would be good for you, I think he is not in favour at Tottenham as they haven't got the best of strikers it is all about the midfield there, Tottenham need two star strikers.

Sow from Lille will be much better. 20 goals in Ligue 1 this season, now 8-10 million for him would be great.
