Saints are definately more loveable. I mean...what kind of name is West Bromwich Albion and West Brom is even worse.
How long before this just gets chucked into the rumours thread. Come on J-Rod don't keep us hanging about
I know where you are coming from Fran. Wouldn't Be Assed with them but Saints!!!! now that is different.
Nixon has also implied the deal needs to be done before Thursday otherwise its not on at all....not sure about this but if that is true I think that could be a term & condition that "the don" has put in place. I think saints will try and build early ass poss this year and get the team together ASAP, if Jay Rods not on board then we move on!
Nigel said that he wanted signings to be early rather than later. Wanted to avoid the January window. However, someone said the deadline was last Friday...now it's Thursday..think we'd better wait and see.
MONDAY UPDATE Reports now linking several other Premier League clubs with Jay Rod - most notably Sunderland and Villa. Burnley in with a chance of more money? Jay in with a chance of higher salary? Fist fight to develop? Guess this is one of the reasons clubs want deals done quickly, will be an interesting week or so...
Hi fran, I think Friday deadline was for keeping the deal exclusive to us! The Thursday deal I feel maybe something cortese has slapped on the table. Everyone assumes it's all down to Jay rod but Equally we cannot be strung along as we will need to make further enquiries into other targets. Don't get me wrong I rate jay rod but if it is the case he is stalling for a better deal (can't blame him) Then I'm kind of going off him a bit already! We need players who want to play for the shirt not just the ££££'s
Indeed but in the same sense we don't want a guy who is coming tonus because we are the last option/2nd best type scenario, goes against everything we have built in the last 2-3 seasons! Southampton are an up and coming club and jay rod should take the time to realize that and decide if he wants to be part of it. We are now a desirable outfit.... Does everyone remember when Pardew got sacked and we interviewed for the managerial role....we had over x50 candidates of which 2 or 3 of them were in work within the premier league!
I'm confident Jay will sign for us. I honestly don't see anyone matching our bid for starters. The lad's been on holiday, Saints have probably said to finish up and head south for further talks with his agent and SFC representatives. However that means to some he isn't coming! If there is no reported movement towards, or a completed deal this week then maybe it's off. I don't believe for one minute the fact he hasn't signed yet means he has no intention of doing so.
The only fly in the ointment as I see it, is that Rodriguez is quite the northern laddie. In a similar way that was reported about Billy Sharp, until he spent one day down South in Winter, Jay appears to need a little convincing. At least, that's how I've read it. And like every other player who has fallen for the charms of Hampshire, and ultimately the South of England, it just requires a little leap of faith. The faith that it's not so bloody bleak and cold every time you set foot outside of the house..!
