The bloke with the Sig of Fowler scoring against Peter Schmichael eons ago sums up Liverpool fan's plight succinctly. Yearning for yesteryear yet trying to convince themselves they're still big now. Its a very sorry situation but I believe it could be about to turn around.
I predict there will be a total of 380 games with all teams finishing somewhere between first and twentieth. The will be hundreds of yellow cards and a fair few reds too. At some point during each month there will be a debate about goal line technology and regular calls to respect the "useless" referees. I'll put £100 on this if anyone is willing to match it...? I'll even give you 75-26 odds...
I will only make my predictions on the weekend of the Charity shield. In that way at least i can make an informed guess.
1 - Liverpool 2 - Norwich 3 - Fulham 4 - Newcastle 5 - Aston Villa 6 - Swansea 7 - Man City 8 - Reading 9 - QPR 10 - West Ham 11 - Tottenham 12 - West Brom 13 - Chelsea 14 - Everton 15 - sunderland 16 - Arsenal 17 - Wigan 18 - Southampton 19 - West Ham 20 - Man Utd Makes sense If I'm right, then it will be another great season for Roberto Martinez.
I don't think Saints will go down. They're not falling into the QPR trap of signing Premier League has been's and nearly made it's. You seem to be buying the best at a level below and raising their game.
Impossible to say when the transfer windows not even opened for the summer yet (although you wouldn't beleive it looking at Chelsea!). however, at present, I'd say that Man City will retain the title with Chelsea second and Man Utd third. Dependent on RVP as to whether Arsenal or Tottenham finish fourth. Newcastle and Liverpool to battle for sixth and seventh. Norwich, WBA and one of Southampton or Reading to go down.
Nobody has signed anyone yet! That's the problem with predicting so early. Lots of surprises in the transfer window to come and that will change people's predictions.
They are below you aren't they? The point I was getting at is instead of buying the dross from the Permier League you chose to buy those who are excelling in the same league or below. I'm sure you have more examples of that because my point stems from two Saints fans who I work with.
On Southampton, I think they'll be alright. With rumours of Rodriguez coming in from Burnley, that should strengthen the strike-force. Still need a few players (Defence is where I would look at the most) but Adkins is a good young manager and should lead them to around 15th in the league. I think Southampton fans would consider that a good first season back!
You idiot, he was trying to complement you. He was advising to bring in young lesser-known players and develop them whilst keeping the nucleus of your squad. Sound advice as QPR did it the opposite way and we very nearly made a balls of it.
