martinez went with scotland and gomez what happened to us? we finished higher. sousa left we got promoted. we lost devries and pratley, everyone left for bigger and better so were are they now? all looking up at the mighty swans. the grass isnt allways greener. S.T.I.D
Rogers' comments have poisoned the well. He's smart. If some prick reporter had asked him about Sig all he had to do was to say no comment - just say nothing at all, out of his love and respect for the club and in the spirit of the non-poach agreement. Sorry, but this is a **** you and he's full of blarney, always has been, always will be.
Sig only played 17 games aswandam . Those 17 game were in the 2nd half of the season , with a lot better away games which might explain his lack of scoring at home IMO . By that time the team were starting to create a bit of space for our shooters . Speaking of shooting , in those 17 games Sig shots toward goal 71 times , two thirds of them off target . Graham shot the same amount toward goal in 32 games , over half of them on target for 12 goals . In summary I just don't thing we got a big picture from Sig based on those 17 games , especially to gamble 7 million on him . If he does sign , great ... if he doesn't sign ,greater .. just my take , don't shoot me !
...and he's now coming out with all these Shankley-isms to blend in with the crowd at Liverpool. Let's see how long it takes before it goes pear shaped for him! 100% agree that he should've kept his gob shut regards Siggy. All he is doing is fishing and dangling the bait. He can say what he wants in private to the player/agents, but by publicly coming out with this bullxxxx just makes him look like a right twat
yankee your sounding very bitter against brendan when he has no control on what siggs thinks or does. all he is saying if he does not want to join swansea then im not going to let anyone else get him and ill go for him myself.....now what is so wrong with that, siggs knows what is going on unless he is on another planet, rodgers cant do anymore than advise the lad to join us and if he dont want to now then thats the end of the story and where ever siggs ends up is his choice.....
I agree. It will be great if we get him, but if not, there will be other targets. This Dos Santos player from Mexico was a real live-wire against Wales and would attack from deep, so he could be an option to fill the role just behind Danny. What Siggy added was that he was willing to have a pop at goal whenever he had the chance...something we really missed since Bodde IMO. Before Siggy, we would try to pass the ball into the net too often and seemed afraid to shoot ....so when Siggy joined his impact was more noticeable. On the other hand, at times I think he was anonymous and left us vulnerable from a defensive stand point. Anyway, just my opinion, and as I said if we get him....great! If not, there will be someone else who can fill his shoes!
Believe me, I'm well aware of the various possibilities, motives and so on. It doesn't take a genius and believe me, I'm a natural cynic. Regardless, your board, a microcosm of Swansea fans as a whole, clearly shows a feeling of betrayal that will have permeated your take on things he says and does. I don't think there's anything wrong with him saying that. He's been respectful to Swansea and the deal that was in place, but has shown honesty by admitted he'd still be interested.
I disagree if he said nothing to the press then that would have been respectful, what he says to the player in private is up to him, like mentioned above! There was no real need to speak to the press about this, he is not Swansea manager anymore so should keep his opinions about transfer targets at the swans to himself! What this does just confirms that he is trying to justify himself to swans fans, whilst stabbing them in the back! Personally I think siggy is a great player but at £6.8m is over priced, in my opinion the figure should have been about £5m, so if he doesn't sign that is up to him, the swans will go and get someone else .
Surely Brendan is interrupting the deal by basically saying in public that if Swans dont sign Siggy Liverpool will...the devious ****! Considering he said that he didnt want to go back to Hoffenheim to be a bench player then WHY would he go to Liverpool and be a bench player behind Gerrard? Rodgers will want to get the fans on side ASAP so there is no way would he drop a fit Gerrard. Personally i think he is waiting to see who the next manager is going to be. If we get Laudrup, who is a fairly big name and likely to have more links with bigger clubs than Brendan, then he will sign for us....we get Jones :/ then he will sign for Liverpool within 24 hours!!
Not bitter about him going. It is what it is and BR is, regardless how I might feel about it, entitled to move his career in whatever direction he chooses. What I dislike and I find destructive for the game is the fall out from these events on the club left behind, which tend to ripple out like the waves on a pond and they can cascade all the way down the food chain. We lose a manager, our new hire becomes somebody else's loss etc. as far as that goes it is what it is within a small industry. What is damaging is the follow-ons at each node in the cadcade where compromised clubs are then further picked over for back room staff and then players enticed to leave that is destructive. When Martinez left us we were upset, but as it turns out he was easily replaced. What seriously compromised the club was not departure of Martinez but the follow-ons, the collapse of the back operation (who left to join him) and the loss of Jason Scotland and Gomez (who most likely would have joined us had Martinez not left). This left the club with a 30 plus goal deficit starting the season and with the loss of Bodde through injury compounded to a 40 goal deficit and a projected -23 goal difference for the coming season. We were in serious jeopardy of being relegated. We hired Sousa who, other peoples' opinions notwithstanding, performed a football miracle with what he inherited and not only avoided the statistical probability of relegation but almost took us into a final fight for promotion. Sousa's hiring was in hindsight stroke of genius because Sousa was uniquely equipped to deal with our predicament. What I am offended by now is Rogers' persistent bull ****, his cynical, self-serving covert interference in the biggest trade in the club's history and the adverse impact of follow-ons from his departure. Once again we are compromised in the back room staff and will probably lose the opportunity to sign Sig and the benefit of his goal production - the latter is extraordinarily valuable, more so than Rogers himself.
I have no problem with Rodgers leaving Swansea, to be fair he did make sure we came out of the deal with a tidy sum of compensation. My own feeling is that he's gone a season or two too early. If he could have kept us us with the typical second season then this would have been a better achievement than last season. My feelings towards Rodgers since his move are some what mixed, whilst I do wish him well, will he be given time? well we shall wait and see. Now to my gripe with him, for the last couple of days, I'm just about getting pissed off with seeing his mug plastered all over the papers. His proclamation to all things Liverpool, with what he's saying, you could swear he was the second coming, Shankly incarnate. He's bigging himself up something chronic, his ego is going on one hell of a trip, and god help if he falls over. Now to Siggy, at present he holds all the cards, my wish is that Brendan just keep that big Irish gob shut, and be a bit more diplomatic. Whilst fee and personal terms are agreed, Brendan will have full knowledge of what they terms are. Now Liverpool will have to approach Hoffenheim is their interested, but my guess would be if they do then the fee will increase as were now talking Liverpool transfer fees. Hoffenheim will try and screw Liverpool for as much as they can, so we might see this go to their original valuation of 10m. If they do then good luck to them. I will be more gutted loosing out on Siggy that I will ever be, about loosing Rodgers. And if we do lose out on Siggy then I'm sure the new manager will have his own thoughts and plans on players. But we will regroup, the board have done us proud in the past and I have full faith in them, after all WE ARE SWANSEA CITY!!!
spirit With every interview he is doing, he is slowly turning the swansea faithful against him, he was wondering the other day how he would be remembered, the way he is carrying on over the last day or two, a bullshitter would be my take on it tbh with you, our huw will come up trumps again i have no doubt, so as we were a stepping stone for brendan, it will transpire that really he was a stepping stone for us as well STID
lol im surprised they would even jeopardise the deal by giving him an interview. We finished 11th in arguably the best league in the world...why should we settle for the number 2 of a team that continually flirts with relegation!!
This one fact is what has made me think that he intended to leave this summer all along and Im unsure whether im pissed off by it or begrudgingly respect him for it for at least ensuring we werent completely up ****s creek
siggs is at fault he should have signed by now and is stalling. brendan cant help that can he, he has said that should siggs contact him then he will ask him to talk to the swansea manager..what else is he suppose to do??? and all these false allegations that somehow brendan is going to say to siggs " pretend to say you want to follow me and join liverpool and we will give you more money" is absolutely outrageous and slander. I have a lot of respect for brendan and the way he has handled this whole affair. he did not have to agree to not come in for our players but he did, he has urged siggs to join swansea, he has been nothing than a true professional. he dont deserve all this rubbish now after saying he was the best thing since sliced bread last week. sour grapes dont come into it,
Well he could Dai, by keeping out of the affairs of another club, by keeping his big mouth firmly closed in the affairs of swansea city football club, simples dai
Yes he's urged siggy to join the swans wink wink , and instead of just keeping it out the press he blurts it out to all. Superswan you and I both said that he was worth about £5m on here, if he doesn't sign there will be a bigger transfer chest for the new man (or woman ) coming in. So no huge loss if you ask me.
