Good to hear about the Levy gag, that could make an enormous difference to the perception of Harry and more importantly Spurs as far as the media, potential players and the fans are concerned. I am hoping that the late season blip (for whatever reason) and the failure to be selected for the England job will give Harry a new focus on the job in hand. He is certainly not in as strong a position as he might have been and neither of course are Spurs. Having said that the media does seem to be coming to terms with the fact that Spurs are a potential contender to be taken seriously and not as they thought 'a flash in the pan'.
I think you should stick by Harry, he has done well over the years, I know he ****ed up towards the end of the season and was willing to leave if the England job come up, but many Englishmen would do that for their country, don't matter what nationality you have most will take the chance if it comes to manage their country.
i dont think anybody had a problem with him taking the job. it was more to do with the fact that he was courting the job...thus taking his eye off the ball and that coincided with us going on a miserable run which, one way or another cost us our goal this season. and missing that goal could have many knock on effects for us...that is to be seen...and we as fans of our club were not happy about that...not that he wanted the job.
Yeah I understand he did take his focus off Tottenham, I think it looked like he lost the dressing room as they did not know if he was staying or going.
Personally, I wouldn't give Harry a three year extension on his remaining year, because I am not 100% convinced by him, not any more. He's got to re-earn my trust. I'd tell him that I'd look at things at the end of next season, and that if he manages 4th or better, we'll give him an extension. If we had to, I reckon we could pull in a decent replacement for Redknapp. Who was he before us? Nothing. People might say that he did well keeping the Spanners up for so long when they were so dire, but Martinez is proving just as adept at keeping a limited team alive in the Prem, and I think he's more astute. I resent those Spurs fans who are turning him into some kind of saviour, like we were utter ****e before he deigned to join us. Why don't those fans go the whole hog and call him "King" Redknapp, so that the Mousers can laugh at us? Fair enough, if he buckles down next season, keeps his trap shut and concentrates 100% on the squad, and works his undoubted charm to keep the players together, and puts in the same kind of shift that he obviously demands from his players, then it would be churlish, indeed foolish, not to stick with him. But, I'm not convinced that his ego wouldn't force him to throw a wobbler and tell Levy where to stuff it. He seems quite immature in that regard.
seems like that is what happened...i mean how do you motivate players when they know that however the gaffer is trying to motivate them with incentives i.e...team spirit, end goals etc...that it is all hot air because he himself is abandoning ship. these are the seeds that were planted that caused the rut...and on top of that Harry would not admit that he was making mistakes on the pitch...and insisted we were just 'unlucky'...aswell as admitting that he lost it tactically against everton..and that we should be glad where we are as a club etc etc...... all these things left us frustrated and the only solution we believed was for Harry to leave as it fet like he had brought our progress to a standstill. however....we are not fickle and are prepared to put it behind us and to back him again provided he knuckles down.
Ominous in the gossip column today,Levy stalling on a new contract for Harry who wants a pay rise. Had he won something then yes but he didn't so no. Let's start looking around.
It's a no win situation if you ask me. If we keep Harry, we could end up with another situation where he gets all the attention surrounding the England job if Hodgson makes a mess of it. If we sack him and replace him, we could go backwards, lose players and take years to recover. As much as it pains me to say this, I would keep Harry. Stability in the short term is better than to upset the apple cart and never know how much damage it could do if we get the wrong man in to replace him. What are the options anyway? Mourinho - no chance Guardiola - dreaming Martinez - no thanks Jol - nope Bilic - unproven Stick or twist?
Billic - already has a new job. We should stick with Harry but with a view to getting in a successor that will initially work along side him to provide continuity when he goes. Whether that is possible with Harry's ego or whether we can find someone decent enough that is willing to be an understudy I don't know. Ledders?

There's a good chance that England will mess up badly, and Hodgson will be a dead man walking, but the FA will dither about a replacement. As to whether 'Arry has done a good job or not - it depends how good you think our squad is. If you think that we've got the fifth best squad (or worse) in the Prem, then 'Arry did good to get us into 4th. If you think we are better than that, then he did bad. Personally, I think we are about 4th best, as befits our 4th/5th best placing in terms of turnover, and 'Arry did OK - no more than that. I'd expect any experienced manager to get us to roughly where we finished. And we'll get the same next year if we keep 'Arry. I'd rather take a punt on someone who might be able to take waht is a pretty good squad of individuals and make them into a team that is more than the sum of its parts.
The main problem is that Hodgson will probably get slaughtered after the tournament, regardless of what he does. Unless Redknapp's going to distance himself from the England job, which isn't going to happen, then he will get linked with it again.
Harry's also considering pulling out of his BBC Euro 2012 punditry gig next week... personally i think it's a no brainer but this past season has showed me that Harry may not actually have one. Why would he want to steal the limelight and be asked about tactics, team selections, opponents etc when his "mate" Roy got the job instead of him. It just puts the spotlight straight back on Harry again, especially when England inevitably get knocked out and then the "experts" start pulling apart Roy's team and tactics. This is exactly the type of crap we or Harry doesn't need but he can't see it. No wonder Levy is stalling on a new contract. I don't blame him! Harry attracts too much bad/negative attention... http://www.tribalfootball.com/articles/tottenham-boss-redknapp-may-snub-bbc-gig-3214611
This also maybe a tactic to show Levy that he is serious about Spurs and wants reassurances from the club. Harry: "see I didn't go on telly to talk about how crap England are" can I have my new contract now?
Our squad is a bit on the thin side, as in we have no adequate replacements for the majority of our key players. Our first choice X1 however, is as good as anybody's - apart from maybe City. We just need better organisation, somebody a bit more tactically astute than Harry, the will to win, and the self-belief, that is so evident in teams like Utd.
"Is Glen Hoddle a better manager than George Graham. The answer is no." That's what I said to a mate when GG was sacked. What took over was not better than previous. Now,"Is Moyes a better manager than Harry?" is my question to you lads. My answer is no. We don't want to go backwards as we would with Moyes. Klopp or let's lure Ancelotti away from PSG.
Better the devil you know. Offer him a contract but make it solid. If England come knocking when this dull negative football gets them nowhere make the payout far to much to consider him, or if he resigns have a clause that no position may be taken without a time plan. No more mouthing off to his media mates. Club first not Harry . Take it or leave it.
What are you basing that assessment on, TMT? I'd say that we don't know, but that Redknapp's shown what he can do with a very good squad and that Moyes hasn't had that opportunity.
Moyes is a fantastic manager, one of the top 3 in the prem in my opinion. He has shown amazing loyalty to everton also. I believe he will follow everton by going onto a bigger job than the spurs one (Utd). he would be a massive coup for us but I can't see us pulling it off.
PNP,Moyes has had a long time to do things at Everton and hasn't. Also he starts the campaigns very badly languishing near the relegation zone until mid season when things pick up but then it's too late. Harry's teams at least show big improvements from previous managers in the short term.Ok.
