I realise that I could well be open to that criticism, but only time will prove if I have underestimated him, though obviously I don't think so, but if I have, I will be the first to admit that. As Swans supporters we have known for some seasons, that all we needed was the fire power up front, and after the in fighting with Sousa, Rodgers got the green light to spend, but had Sousa been supported the same way, he would have taken us up too!.................... <ok>

As our Huw stated yesterday it was all set up for him, now i have no problem with rodgers but i think he now needs to move on, he did not cover himself in glory by the way he left watford and he did it again when he left us, i get the impression that he is trying to placate our fans by constantly bleating on about why he went to the scousers, we are moving on i think he needs to.

Mabon - its like when you leave your girlfriend and you say that you can still be friends! Rodgers feels guilty because he knew how highly thought of he was and also I do believe he enjoyed his time down here. We can move on when we start our next love affair!

Dragon - Soussa didnt have the man management skills to succeed even with financial backing, just compare the reaction of the players to his and Rodgers exit - it couldnt be more stark.

I disagree, they are on a par with each other for different reasons, to say lambert is a far better manager speaks to me of someone who is a little bitter that he left.

Sousa's man management was poor on times, and he did upset those that didn't understand the Latin temperament, and I know first hand regarding Sousa's outbursts, but I still recognise without prejudice that he could have taken us up if he'd got on with Huw Jenkins, and been given the funds in January for that striker he wanted, it wasn't all Sousa's fault. He obviously was a different character to Martinez and Rodgers, who are very good at man management, but I don't know if you ever met Sousa, but if you did, to talk to, he was an absolute gentleman, so I think he came at the wrong time for him, but the right time for us, as he stabilised the club, when we all thought, we'd be in a relegation battle. There's no doubt that Sousa split opinions, because at the time of his leaving, Vital did a poll with the fans, and 48% wanted him gone while 52% wanted him to stay, as regards the players well maybe he did upset one or two, but when Sousa was being linked with a move to the Prem (Burnley) Monk stated to the press, “And it goes without saying the players want him to stay and be a part of what we’re aiming to achieve here. “I’m sure it’s flattering for the gaffer to be linked with a Premier League club,” “Paulo’s made a great start here and I’m sure he wants to continue doing what we’re doing as a club.” Monk, so I could go on, but it can be too easy sometimes to close ranks when things go wrong and channel the blame in one direction!............... <ok>

never met Soussa infact I never saw the Swans under him (difficult getting home living out here in Colombia!) but I remember the fallout when he left and players criticising his training techniques. im not knocking the guy on a personal level, i ll take it like you say that he was a gentleman but out of all the Swans fans I know from back home ive yet to meet one who enjoyed watching us at that time. fair play though he shored up the defence and he is a largely ignored part of our development.
The Rodgers/ Lambert debate is a tough one - Lambert is a good manager in the traditional mould but Rodgers is the more progressive - yes they beat us twice but we finished above them!

His grandfather was a liverpool fan, and apparently he has that as his emotional tie to the club, oh and he speaks to Jose(the special one) every week, to be honest with you he needs to get on with the job, because he is appearing to spend a lot of his time trying to 'justify his love for liverpool, and selling himself to the fans there, rodgers is in stark contrast to lambert who is keeping out of the media and getting on with it, brendans turning in to a media darling, alway available with his philosophy on how the game should be played

Yes, Brendan is still good at the old spin I see. They'll lap it up.....until they lose some games.

As for Sousa, it's clear he didn't command respect in the dressing room for whatever reason, and not many seemed to have shed a tear when he left. To say we'd have got promoted anyway without Rodgers is a sweeping statement. We just don't know, though I take the point that Rodgers inherited a very good group of players when he arrived. He didn't really need to tweek us that much imo, but it was his signing of Sinclair that was the killer touch.

Sousa didn't do particularly well at Leicester as I recall, and no disrespects to any Hungarians reading this but winning the title there doesn't inspire me with confidence either.

Yeah but Sousa would give a quick headbutt to anyone who wouldn't listen to him ;) think when people said him to use your head when being a manager it got lost in translation <laugh>

On reflection .. Vorm , Rangel , Williams , Caulker ( or replacement ) Taylor , Dyer , Britton , Allen , Agustien , Sinclair & Graham seems a good jump off point for the beginning of the season , if Sig doesn't come to us . That's before a probable 20 million war chest for the new manager . Jazz & Monk as defensive cover , Orlandi & Gower as cover in the middle & Moore covering Graham . Were on top of the pile when it comes to value & results , lets stay there .

Sinclair stalling on a new deal, Breezy, so you might want to ease him out of there and substitute Routledge. That's what I mean about getting a high profile, well respected manager in. He might show people like Sinclair and Allen, who are rumoured to be considering their options, that we mean business and be persuaded to stay.

Seems that some of our players are getting Rodgersitis. The first symptom is that your feet start to swell and before you know it you're too big for your boots.

The 2nd sign is your head starts to swell and before you know it your self-loving is too big for your club.

I don't believe any decisions will be made about players until the new man is place.

Sorry Yankee , had to look up pragmatic & still don't realy know what it means . I don't care who wants to make a mistake & leave with no guarrentee of minutes , as long as who wants to stay stays . If Allen goes , Agustien will do the job with Britton & a new attack midfielder regarless if it's Sig . If Sinclair leaves we'll need new pace in his place because our outside misfielders create the space for others in the middle ... Routeledge is a nice change with 15 minutes to go but his " Frogger " type play will lose us space in the middle . Not sure if either are out of contract soon , but if there hesitent , sell them if we can get anything & move on . Until they do , were looking not bad especially with a bit of a war chest at the ready
