All the pussies who refused to be a 2nd/3rd choice for their country will be regretting it now with all these injuries.

I wouldn't care if I was on standby and quite far down the pecking order, I would still offer my services as backup to England if needed, I wouldn't refuse like a prick because someone else was chosen ahead of me

If Terry and Cahill are ruled out it will probably mean Jagielka and Lescott start.

That's not a bad pairing but who apart from Jones can play centre half in the squad?

Would we be able to bring in another two centre halves and if so, who ????

    Titus Bramble is available

    James Chester?

But seriously we all rave about him being class, does anyone think he'll play for England?

You can't rule it out. One way or another I think he'll be playing PL football within a couple of years.

Depends on how he adapts to that.

He could be another Shawcross who, if memory serves me right, has been in the England squad.

I've said it enough times but I think he has something special. He isn't just your standard big, strong centre back. He has a tackling ability which you rarely see in the current generation of top players. I think he's better than Turner ever was and probably should play for England some day, but a lot will depend on a big club taking a gamble on him. I can't see us being big enough for him to make the England team in the next 10 years or so, but he'd be good enough for a decent PL team (not just a Wigan type or other bottom-end team but an established side) if they're willing to take the gamble on a defender from the Championship who isn't over 6 foot.

If we don't get promoted this upcoming season, I think it would be cruel to keep him from the Premier League, someone like Everton or Fulham should sign him

It's not a bad pairing but it leaves us seriously short of cover. We do have Jones but he was drafted in to cover Barry, so if we get injuries to either gerrard, parker and either centre half we're in serious trouble. And i don't think parker is fully fit anyway.

I think we have to consider some way to ease the workload of our players. They talk about winter breaks and stuff and allegedly a lot of players would want one but it just seems to me like we have players who are gruadually getting closer and closer to injury as they play more and more games in such a short space of time. Jack Wilshere is a good example, Wenger more or less predicted his injury when he went to the U21 Euros last summer.

I know what you mean but they tried to do that by starting this season earlier so by finishing earlier it supposedly gave players a chance to rest. With a winter break that couldn't happen. No idea what the answer would be mind

Cahill is out now. He's been replaced by a right back.
Kelly is a right back isn't he???

If I wasn't confused with the Barry/ Jagielka thing I am now????

Hodgson has ballsed this one up.

This Kelly character has only played about a dozen PL games this season and twenty four in total.

If the squad wasn't looking Liverpool biased before hand then it certainly is now.
Johnson, Henderson, Clowning and now Kelly. You could argue non of those should be in the squad.

Did Ferdinand refuse to go on the standby list or was he never on it??

Posted at the same time as yours.

    Great minds think alike.

In fact you might even argue about AC's inclusion.

No, I don't have any problems with any person from any race, creed or colour.

I like French people as well.

The squad not going at the moment looks better then the squad that is going! Could have a non euro 2012 starting line up of ruddy, Richards, rio, Cahill, Bertrand, Johnson, lampard, Wilshere, Lennon, sturridge, holt!
