    Seen a few self confessed atheists looking forward to the Jubilee on here

    Is this further hypocricy (after christmas and easter) seeing as you will be celebrating the Supreme Governor of the Church of Englands 60 years on the throne

    seems odd that those without faith will be honouring/cheering/celebrating the defender of the faith

    How about those who are looking forward to her Jubilee aren't in the slightest bit interested in her religious roles, but instead are celebrating her continued success as a great ambassador for Great Britain around the world?

    Oops, I guess that's just **** all over your religious angle already.

    You fail <ok>

    I think maybe this discussion is above your intelligence level

    Let me break it down for you, as part of the include a mong programme <ok>

    queen = leader of church
    queen = defender of faith

    been these for 60 years

    hence big party

    big party = jubilee

    jubilee = party for defender of faith and leader of church

    I'll break this down very simply for you in return. How about...I know, a new concept...people just like her for who she is and couldn't give a flying **** about her religious roles?

    As I said...a new concept <doh>

    You do realise her role is Supreme Governor of the Church of England?

    I suppose you celebrate christmas because you like Jesus but not for religion <doh>

    And once more, you do realise that people just like her for who she is and couldn't give a flying **** about her religious roles?

    Is such a concept so alien...oh, I forgot, it's you so it probably is <doh>

    I don't celebrate Christmas, I enjoy the few days off work.

    Her role is Queen of England, ruler of the British Empire, and ruler of the commonwealth. Thats her main role, the fact she's head of the church doesn't mean a thing, we're celebrating 60 years of her rule over us, not 60 years of her rule over the church. <doh>

    She is the Supreme Governor of the Church of England and defender of the faith, which makes her an enemy to those who wish to do away or harm the faith

    Elizabeth II is styled, "Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of Her other Realms and Territories Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith".

    Yes, i know that, but i'm not celebrating the jubilee for her religious role, i'm celebrating her role as an ambassador to the UK, and 60 years of excellent service for the commonwealth. Just because i'm an atheist, doesn't mean i have to hate the queen.

    Christmas WAS a religious holiday, now it's a marketing exercise. I live opposite a church, they don't open on christmas day. Thats hardly religious.

    If you had your way (due to your own beliefs), she probably would have been stoned by now. A woman in a position of power! Come on!

    so you pick and choose like christmas?

    You dont have to 'hate' the queen. Point is she represents all you as an atheist disagree with as defender of the faith

    Defender of the faith doesn't necessarily mean what you're implying. It can be taken as defender of the realm, which is what she actually is.
