I don't like how pussy football has become.

I agree with the two footed tackle rule, but there's just too many yellow cards being brandished now.

Nowt wrong with yellows, just as long as it's for people having fights and taking each other out.

We're in danger of losing the art of tackling. Not sying you should be able to maim someone, but if you get the ball its meant to be a contact sport.

It's very annoying. Football will end up being a none contact sport.

The way some referees hand out yellow card these days is ****ing stupid.

And also, I don't think any bit of contact + plus a player falling over should result in a penalty.

Sometimes a defender is just trying to put pressure on a player, and use his physicality to defend his goal, but a player will go down, ref gives a pen, and yellow/red cards with be brandished.

It's really annoying. You shouldn't be allowed to pull someone down or hack them down when they;re in on goal, but I see no reason why you shouldn't be allowed to make any contact.

FFS strikers go down at a pat on the elbow and get pens nowadays.

    ****ing stupid.

Even the pundits are in on it. Saying 'there was contact' when talking about penalties etc. Making contact isn't against the laws of the game. Big difference between contact and a foul. Not sure how you deal with it as long as there are so many divers around though. Must be a nightmare being a ref.

    Agreed.

I hear the pundits saying there should be technology, but only for goal line decisions, not for fouls ect.

IMO if it's a penalty decision, it should be review by technology.

Cricket does it so why not football? With the right set up, it should only take an extra 30 seconds, to a minute to review, who cares?

I don't think the fans will mind seeing 7-8 mins extra time often as long as the game ends in the right result.

Not sure about this bit. I get what your saying but what would constitute a penalty decision? You could end up with reviews after every corner with all the pushing, pulling and shirt grabbing (another one of my pet hates)

Just to turn this on its head slightly, just because the mention of Ferguson made me think of it, I do love watching Sir Alex's dad dancing when United score ... so glad Pards doesn't do any of that.

But to return to the question that was actually asked ... AVB's mac coat thing .... if he comes back to the Premiership, someone needs to have a word in his ear. Just my opinion mind.

Pushing and pulling at corners. There should be at least five given at every corner, but the referee chooses to ignore it. Sometimes it's like all in wrestling.

Hands shouldn't be allowed to be used at all. Far too too much of it goes on now and it just keeps on getting worse and is becoming part and parcel of the game which doesn't officially allow it.

Exactly! And what about when a defender "shepards" the ball out for a corner using his elbows and arse! How's that not obstruction???

Happens all the time even though its against the rules, and yet as soon as someone shoulder charges them in the back to battle for the ball (which as far as I know is still legal in the rules) you see a foul given against them every single time.

Agree with the OP's pet hates. There are also:

    1. Feigning injuries and diving.
    2. Gloating on the pitch - e.g. Robin Van Persie.
    3. Announcers trying to gee the crowd into lifting the atmosphere.
    4. Playing music after a goal is scored.
    5. Corporate fans, such as the woman at my place who didn't recognise Alan Shearer even though she walked past him.
