Brilliant shot-stopper but not good at dominating his area which for someone who had a run as our only keeper in the league for 3 years before he was rested for a couple of games at the beginning of October was a big worry for us. It also meant that at the last U-21 Euros, although he was the most-capped keeper that went and had played in most of, if not all of the qualifiers, he wasn't first-choice. He has admitted that he found Kuszcsak a good mentor while he was on loan to us. Only those who saw him play at home to Boro on the last day of the season when Kuszczak was unable to play can say whether that part of his game seems to have improved because of it. Due to his lack of apparent progression in this area of his game, the coaching that he's been receiving has been questioned on these boards (our keeper coach is Alec Chamberlain, who, as you're probably aware, came through your ranks) but it has also been mentioned that he's 24 and in keeping terms that's still young.
Most amazing keeper. One of if not the best shot stopper in the country, current value around 7 million, get your cheque book out and grab a bargain.
i'm not sure. I doubt we'll get Kuszczak, but we may be actively looking for another keeper. I can see Scott going, if only because Ipswich are interested and he'd probably want to go there, and he's had a very rough ride with the abuse he gets from 'fans' at watford. As for the answer, he had improved, quite obviously at the last game against Middlesbrough, but he still made his customary mistakes. I feel sorry for him, always have...i'm still a fan, but after having watched a keeper who has so much more experience, it's so obvious where the holes are in Loach's game, and it may be that he'd benefit from plying his trade at a different club, i think he's gone stale with us through no fault of his own. He'll do well eventually, i know it (call it women's intuition )
Women's intuition - that's just an old wives tale! Re Loach - for any Ipswich fans, what he's like depends entirely on their mindset. If they are of a positive mindset, then they will see the five or so excellent saves that he makes in every game and encourage him when he's not doing so well. If, however, they are of a negative mindset, then they won't see past the few howlers that he makes, and be on his case all the time, demanding that he be sold/dropped. Unfortunately for him, we have a few of the former and a whole heap of the latter.
I think you would say - Bloody brilliant. He will be worth the GBP 5 million you will pay to buy him.
Ipswich have higher expectations than us....I don't see how Loach could expect to be treated any better by Ipswich fans unless he stops making howlers. If he did that at Watford then fans would quickly forget the past mistakes. I don't think we'd get a goalkeeper to replace Loach.....I can see Dyche wanting to give him another season to prove himself. That said.....if he does not want to extend his contract then maybe we have no choice.
He is a decent keeper. Yes he does need to become more dominating and vocal, but he showed that he can learn when he played for the first time in a few months. He needs a good mentor to teach him and help him grow as a player, but other than that he is a decent keeper.
Scott Loach - A talented goalie who still has poor decision making and who still makes howlers even after 4 years of first team football. That may sound like a contradiction but it's not.
