The wage bill is not 191M, the figures you are looking at is the whole group which is a total of 18 companies. Some of these companies ARE football related, for example the merchandising limited which has a wage bill of 1.6m. Some of them have nothing to do with football and will NOT be included in FFP, for example the hotal company has 3M worth of salaries.

To do this you will need to go through each one and find out which are football related. Swiss ramble (Very reliable) did this and the wage bill was 168m.

Such a moron..

You never took notice of this post :)

So your figure of 191mil is wrong as usual.

For the 10/11 season Chelsea loss was 67mil, but this included exceptional items of 42mil, so the underlying loss was 25m. FFP allows football clubs some more costs to be excluded (yourth, depreciation etc) which is estimated at 18m, so Chelsea 10/11 loss was just 7M! in FFP terms. If we were to say get a sponsor for Stamford bridge we will actually be making a profit in FFP.

If Chelsea buys Hazard and Hulk for 70mil, for 5 year contracts, annual impact will be only £12m player amortisation (£70m / 5 years).

So with a 20mil+ sponsor deal we are well in with complying with FFP. This is before i remove any players wages for the monitoring period BTW <3

A - Exceptionals are non recurring
£28 million - £15 million termination payments for Ancelotti and his staff plus around £13 million compensation to Porto for AVB;
£7.4 million - impairment of player registrations
£6.4 million - payments to HMRC to settle the industry wide investigation into taxation of image rights.

B - From Swiss ramble blog
Depreciation
It is not widely appreciated that UEFA’s break-even calculation is not exactly the same as a club’s statutory accounts, as it excludes certain expenses, including depreciation on tangible fixed assets and expenditure on youth development and community development activities. In Chelsea’s case, this means that £9 million of depreciation can be removed right off the bat.

Youth
It is more difficult to assess the youth development expenditure, as this is not separately disclosed in the public accounts, but we can make a reasonable estimate. In an interview with Frank Arnesen, Chelsea’s sporting director, who is due to leave the club at the end of the season, the Independent mentioned “Roman Abramovich’s £60 million plan to build Chelsea through youth development.” On the assumption that this cost refers to the amount spent by Arnesen during his five-year tenure, that would imply an annual budget of £12 million. To be conservative, I’m going to round that down to £10 million.

Fortunately for Chelsea, UEFA still allow clubs to exclude such costs, regardless of whether the programme is successful,

C - This is how Chelsea always do there business, only in rare cases will you see the full sum being paid.

2- I basically told you we have already made only a 7mil loss within FFP in our FIRST year, this is not including the players wages with the monitoring periods.

3 - For the stadium you idiot.

The exceptional items you mention were primarily related to compensation for AVB, compensation to Ancelotti, and unpaid NI on image rights. All of those are employee related costs and so will be included under FFP. Now the image rights issue has been resolved, the NI will be payable every year. And you have yet more exceptional costs this season for terminating AVB's contract, so the situation ain't as rosy as you portray it. Not to mention that last season's figures only included 50% of Torres and Luiz' annual wages and amortisation, so that'll pump the losses up next season.

£14 million actually ;) Add an additional £7 million a year for the extra half of Torres and Luiz, and £16 million a year for the £80 million you spent on Courtois, Romeu, Meireles, Lukaka and Mata et al and it all gets a bit more sanguine. £37 million extra in amortisation is gonna need a lot of players to be released to cover it!

For what it's worth, I think you can comply with FFP, provided your season all go according to plan. So top four every season, at least QF in the CL, decent cup runs, and very little margin for big panic buys a la Torres if you aren't on track in January. And remember you were only ten mins or so from missing out on the CL this year, so its a risky strategy, at least unless you get a new stadium sometime soon...

Dear Roman,
I hope you are reading this and are listening to all these ManU accountants. It would appear that in your desire to win multiple CL Trophies you are infact just wasting your time and money as we are about to get kicked out the competition. I would have thought someone in your position i.e. a billionaire money making machine would have been able to figure this out but it appears not so please please listen to swards the tourist and shwan so that you'll save yourself a few bob and a lot of heartache when we're kicked out.

Cheers to swarbs and shwan for the help.
