Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini says the club will move for £25m-rated striker Robin van Persie, 28, this summer if Arsenal fail to persuade the Netherlands international to sign a new deal. (The Daily Fail) Surely we can afford £25 million? RVP would be a great addition to our squad, especially if we can reunite him with Ade. Plus, I'm betting that he'd rather stay in London than move to Manc Land. Yeah, I know that some of you are going to say that we probably cannot afford to pay the £250k per week salary that the Blue Mancs will be offering to bribe him up North, but quality of life probably counts for a lot with RVP. Plus, imagine how good he'd be with Harry showing him the ropes!
250k but he might be swayed by the quality of life HIAG? so ok he might settle for 180k a week. were still screwed. maybe he might go down to 140k a week? or 100k? were still screwed!!!! YAKUBU IT IS!
Sorry HIAG, mate, but this is a ridiculous thread. There is absolutely no way that RVP would be joining us. Apart from the obvious money side, he's a declared dyed in the wool Gooner. The very last team he would join is Spurs.
Come on, guys! I was hoping to reel in some Gooner-fish. How the hell am I supposed to do that if you don't spot my obvious tongue-in-cheek wind-ups, and back me up?
I'm sorry - we should go to them tomorrow with a fiver and a packet of crisps (maybe even go as far as some Kettle Chips) and just be like this
i think they are really worried about losing him that this thread will be like water off a ducks back for them..but ok..im going to join you......i think if we stumble on purchasing RVP..that we should throw in Jenas aswell to swing the deal our way.
@Spurlock... Actually, you might well have stumbled onto something, there. Okay, so we might not be able to pay RVP £250k per week, but if we could encourage Whinger to drop his price a little bit - say, from £25 million to £15 million - we could pay a large chunk of the difference to RVP as a "make-weight" in what he'll lose in wages. Now, to encourage AFC to do that, let's "give" them a few players that we're looking to shift, anyway, such as Jenas (as you've mentioned), Bentley (who they already know about), and perhaps even Nelson (they need more defenders). Hell, I'd even offer them Gallas back, if it seals the deal with RVP.
the same kind of arrangement was suggested for Ade...and Wenger will be jizzing himself if we offered them GIO......then he can recall Vela....and we got RVP.....everyone is happy...apart from the Arsenal fans...but whoi cares bowt them.
I think you could be on to something, here, Spurlock. Gio would suit AFC better than us, anyway. Sure, the average Gooner probably wouldn't see it, but it would be an exciting move for them, to get Gio onto their bench (occasionally). Do the Gooners still have Bendtner, or was he sold and not loaned? If not, Whinger could give him the chance to step up into RVP's shoes.
Bendtner is on loan..i dont understand their doom and gloom...you made a cracking point..they got Bendy and they can have so many of our second team stars to bolster their team...and add to that the marquee signing of Plod and they will have replaced RVP. im more bothered about what will happen to Defoe if we got RVP...and does that mean we wont get Ade..oh well cant grumble if RVP sees sense and decides he wants ammunition from a midfield like ours.
how did that go? was he ever convicted of that? p.s going by your description i can see LFC putting a bid in.
I wouldn't be surprised to see RvP join sp*rs given your long storied history and decades of success. I'm sure Messi secretly dreams of T*ttenham putting a bid in for him.
