Harry wants 3 more years to build a Champions League Dynasty at WHL

Discussion in 'Tottenham Hotspur' started by Hoddle is a god, Jun 2, 2012.

  1. Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp, 65, wants three more years to build a Champions League dynasty at White Hart Lane. Redknapp has one year left on his contract.

    (Source: The Sun)

Yeah, I know, I know! It's only The Shun saying this, but isn't that the paper that Redknapp writes for?

Is this 'Arry's plea to Levy, saying "Please, don't sack me for ****ing up our season whilst I was distracted chasing my England dream! I do love it, here, at Spurs, really I do! I would never have taken the England job, not even if they had begged me! Honest!"

If Redknapp is given another three years, would that be a good or a bad thing for us?

I wouldn't be against it (even though he was prepared to stab us in the back over the England job), but I don't believe he'll do any better for us than he already has, not with the players we've got. Then again, I wouldn't say no to finishing 4th for the next 4 seasons.

    What do you guys reckon?

Some of us may not fully have forgiven 'Arry for screwing up our season and gifting the Gooners 3rd spot, but would we take Redknapp+4th for next season? Of should we call it quits with him, even if it means falling back a little, and not finishing top 4 for another couple of seasons?

As I can't see Guardiola or Mourhino or the like beating a path to our door or Levy spending bucketfuls of cash, I say stick with Harry.

If Hodgson fails badly in the next couple of years then speculation will fall back on Harry to take over. Not again for me thank you. Go and let's get Klopp,he did well for Dortmund.

Out of all the managers we have had since the premier league started, arry is the one who i would trust to make a successful big money signing, a real marquee signing and we need that as if we carry on our current approach we will always fall short in our goals.

If arry wants three years then levy should sit down give him a contract as the positives out weigh the negatives and while many of you may not have forgiven arry, its clear all of our top players want to play for him so at least we can keep the main team and improve the squad.

Ramos done "wonders" with seville and was rated as one of the top managers in Europe when we went for him, also its too risky to be bringing in a foreign manager right now as chances are he will upset some of the players, players will go, he will then sign 2-4 (or more) foreigners who may well not adapt to the league and its all unnecessary and costly.

I think that ship has sailed HIAG. Harry will watch the inevitable happen to his friend and steer well clear. History has proved that either huge bags of money or continuity give you a better chance of success in the Premiership. Guess which one we'll go for? As for Klopp, he is highly unlikely to turn down a campaign in the CL with a Dortmund side that is absolutely on fire, isn't he?

I would happily give him 3 more years. The whole situation needs to be sorted asap. He has his faults but i do like harry apart from the england bs that should be put firmly behind us all now.

Stability is very important right now!

  8. If keeping Harry for the next 4 seasons guarantees us that Bale will stay 4 more, and Moddy at least another one, then I'm prepared to let bygones be bygones.

By the way, we might not be able to pay the kind of silly money to entice one of the top 4 managers, but we're not too shabby, either; and I have no doubts that we'd be able to get a top 10 manager, and 20 or 30 who can read the game far better than Redknapp. However, I do understand that they would not necessarily be able to prevent our top players from leaving the club.

i want us to go all out for the Europa....cant recall the trophy and day out i had when we finished 4th!!

Burkinshaw won 2 FA Cups and 1 UEFA cup...no European cup football...however he gave us some great memories and actual trophies that we all use to tell other fans about our European successes and FA Cups....i cant see me telling my grandkids that we(spurs) qualified for the CL 15 years in a row...just does not have the same feeling of glory for me.

ive decided im going to be a football fan first and a 'my dad is bigger than your dad' type of fan second.

Redknapp's done very well since joining us, but he's failed to learn from his mistakes and struggles to manage a squad well.
If he can improve on those aspects and sort out some of our more obvious failures (free kicks, playing people out of position), then I'm sure he can earn a new contract.

His obvious disloyalty in the face of Levy's public backing, through a potentially embarrassing court case and a subsequent severe loss of form, have probably cost him an improved deal.
He still has an opportunity to show that he deserves one, but he can blame himself if he's not offered one over the course of the summer.

Easy to understand frustrated feelings at the moment but for me the type of football produced by Harry and his on and off pitch team suits me just fine
If the club support the needs at CB and Striker roll on and with Harry

  13. That's what money has done to the game, my friend. Bit by bit, it has destroyed the glory in our domestic competitions. To today's kids, the battle is (as they say) out there - the "out there" being Europe.

What the FA needs to do is gift a CL place to the winners of the FA Cup, and only give it to the side finishing 4th if the winners of the FA Cup finishes in the top 3. Then, not only would the FA Cup be something worth winning again, but the rest of Europe would sit up and take note, too.

Either that, or quadruple the prize money.

    Hear hear!!!

A cup is a cup is a cup!

When it comes down to it, in 30 years, the Carling cup will still be the only cup we won in the 00's, but its still a cup, whereas Arsenal will still have the reputation of having 7 trophy-less years, not the reputation of Qualifying for the Champions league consistently throughout that period.

it is the only way forward for a football fan..to support that view of yours there HIAG....but its too easy a solution to a simple problem that the FA wouldnt ever do it.

good to see that when asked hand on heart then many Spurs fans hold onto the tradition of our club and want a trophy as oppose to no glorious day at wembley or wherever but a top 4 finish.

dont get me wrong we need top 4 to keep up...but trophies anyday...i really want that Europa next season..id be happy with that and 5th as oppose to 4th ......from what i saw the Bilbao fans ,players and management were ecstatic.

Hard to tell and virtually impossible to predict who Levy would go after.
    Moyes, perhaps?
