"My agent is waiting on news about United. We have presented a counter-offer and now we are waiting on an offer from the club.'"
I assume that Nani and his agent believe the United offer was well off the mark and intend to hold the club to ransom à la Rooney.

"I have fulfilled five seasons with United and obtained all the titles"
He said: 'It was a pain to miss the league title in the last minutes of the last match. City had incredible luck.
    tumblr_lzpwqkicFY1qgu6x4.jpg
'Now I want this Euro to be my Euro. I think we can win it. If I perform well, the better the team will be. Cristiano Ronaldo and I are the best pair of wingers in the world.'
    Deluded much?
Nani isn't even the best winger in Manchester!
Should United cave in and yet again be reminded that the player/agent is bigger than the club?

Whats the issue here. We have our most gifted player and our second best player wanting a wage that he deserves. Rooney is on £180,000 a week and Nani is due a new contract. Hes not going to ask for less is he and considering hes provided the most goals and assists over the past 2 seasons I see no problem why one of our best players is negotiating his contract.

In simple terms.....Man Utd offered a contract, Nani and his agent offered a counter offer. The club has only to say yes thats fine by us, Nani signs, Journo wasted ink and paper.

Oh and Nani is the best winger at United, by some distance. Hes 2 footed, can play both wings to a stupidly high standard, scores, assists, beats his man and has been doing it consistently ( barring injuries and periods where hes rested or rotated ) for over 2 years. January 2010 Nani started this run that has seen him add over 40 goals and assists.

Never understand why people dont consider him our best winger. Valencia has a shout but his limited ability to use only 1 foot and play in 1 position makes him much less of a threat. You never know what Nani is going to do., The worlds best defenders always close Valencia out. Young isnt even in the debate.

Put it this way, Fergie rates Nani as our second most important attacking player behind rooney....so if Nani says he wants £130,000 and lets be honest he could get that easy anywhere on earth and then another 40k on top as hes stupidly high rated in europe ( english fans are by and large very harsh on players who have amazing ability so the views of people who know what they are talking about are more important ) and would walk into 99% of teams including every PL club. That includes City.

My heart really does bleed for these footballers who are on 100k+ a week.

It really is a pitfall salary and how these top footballers survive on these poxy wages is beyond me.

Bankers earn the same for ****ing the economy
    Plastic surgeons can earn more
Writers and actors who do less demanding jobs that require less talent at the top earn more.

The fact is these wages are open to anyone who wants to put the effort in, you me or anyone here could of worked hard and got wages like that but we didnt. Our fault not Footballs or Nani's.

Isn't that the offer Nani/agent has countered believing he's worth more, maybe as much as Rooney?

"I am really happy but I don't know about my future. Now I will study opportunities."
He can't be THAT happy else he wouldn't be airing dirty laundry/contract negotiations.

"Football is not only about England or Spain. It is possible to enjoy success in other countries"
Money=success.Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Its no fkn different than any other negotiation, some have more leverage, Nani has some so he's using it. It is a totally separate thing from being on the field and is quite normal. Rooney's situation was totally different, he starting sulking and said he wanted out, nani feels he should also be a top earner.

And yeah the wages are fkn awful, poor poverty stricken footballers.

Its standard contract negotiations. If you were in a company and 1 guy got way more than everyone else, he wanst the boss or the owner but just as important as you were yet got double your pay how would you feel. Leave numbers out of it just imagine the situation.

£130k is a paper figure, United probably started on less, Nani countered and United may counter again. Its called negotiating and once a figure is reached that all parties are happy with Nani signs and we move on.

Its not like we cant afford his wages, Kagawa comes in on £80,000 replacing Berbatov on £120,000 so theres £40,000 to play with without breaking into our annual wage budget increase anyway.

There is no story and no issue here.

I'd say wait for Nani to prove himself or fail again during this EC. He's got a couple of tough matches ahead of him, during the last WC and EC he tumbled under heavy pressure. If he caves in again during the the EC you can hold that against him: "Can't perfom propperly under heavy pressure". Tag it and start negotiations again at 75k a week and go from there. If he's not willing, well i heard Sturridge isn't happy at Stamford Bridge, could he be an option?

Thanks for educating me on how contract negotiations work, not at all patronising.
What you seem to be ignoring is the way Nani is whoring himself to the media with little soundbites like..
"I am really happy but I don't know about my future. Now I will study opportunities."
His agent has probably helped with the wording to stay just within the right side of contract breach. The fact is players under contract can't talk to other clubs without permission(I can be patronising too)but they can carefully send out statements that imo should be kept within the club negotiation process.
He still has 18 months of his contract to run and should show United more respect while under contract.
But that kind of sentiment falls under loyalty so that notion is lost on greedy players and agents because they are bigger than club.

Agreed, but the fact Rooney held United to ransom despite the way he played during SA 2010 proves international form doesn't necessarily indicate a players worth.

Rooney is top earner cos he is the highest profile player. Season before last if we were going on contribution Vidic would possibly have been highest earner

Tell him to jog on. He's not done enough for united to even remotely consider paying him a silly wage.

FFS stop being so precious, perhaps it's the way you worded the thread. This is negotiations in the modern world, if United don't want to pay it, guess what they will make a counter offer that reflect their position. It's hardly rocket science

No it's not,it's a tactic used by spoilt football players and their agents whose only concern is money.
Bitching to media outlets and making thinly veiled threats about leaving to increase your worth shows a total lack of class and is disrespectful to the employer.
It's no wonder football is eating itself when fans are okay with players holding the club over a barrel.

It's a typo.Well done for making a fuss about it 6 hours after I corrected the mistake.
I'll just point out you missed a quotation mark while we're on the subject of being pedantic.
