For me, the "I want it and I want it now" applies only to ambition. I want to see the club moving forward and at the moment it's stagnating at best and moving backwards at worst.
Boab. We'll have to disagree on that. I hope I'm wrong but I have a gut feeling Warnock will make us worse (and I have a lot of gut!)
I hate this "I'm going to pretend I want it now, so I'm going to make you pay for it thorugh the nose, I'm going to get you all excited, and then I'm going to let you all down" stuff from the chairman. BUt Grayson had lost the squad, had lost the fans, and had to go. His time was up. But Warnock has not proven he is better yet, and he is working unuder the same constraints as Grayson. We shall see, but Warnoick does have pedigree. I don't know why you are so anti-Warnock before he has even had the chance to do anything. And after having seen what Grayson had done, I don't know why you are so pro-Grayson.
Grayson got us out of league 1, beat the scum in the cup and got us to 7th in the Championship the next season without any major investment. Warnock took us from 7th or 8th to 14th with the same squad. Leeds lost 7-3 against Forest with the same squad. We've been promised players and it hasn't happened. How, exactly, has Warnock improved Leeds?
Now follows the argument that he couldn't possibly do well with "Grayson's" squad, even though he's allegedly a far better man manager and motivator.
Warnock has improved Leeds by getting rid of the dross. Grayson simply does not have the intelligence to be a top manager. As has been said, Lge One is his place. People forget that in our first season in the Championship we were in automatic places at the turn of the year, then went on a horrendous run where we couldn't win for love or money, and eventually that cost us dearly. Grayson proved then that he had no plan B. Once teams had worked us out that was it. Suddenly managers used pace against us and it was all over red rover. Huddersfield will be in the bottom half next season and Grayson will get sacked. I have no time for him, he is weak and thick!! Warnock has an incredible record, and to doubt him means one of two things - you are just plain stupid or you are a WUM.
People forget that in a few seasons in the First Division/ Premer League we were in title winning places at the turn of the year, then went on a horrendous run where we couldn't win for love or money, and eventually that cost us dearly. Revie/O' Leary proved then that he had no plan B. Once teams had worked us out that was it. Suddenly managers used pace against us and it was all over red rover. I've changed a few words in that but it is still applicable
*Bates proved he had no Plan B. Grayson needed fresh legs since the players were about to tire from the fixture congestion, and Bates failed to give him enough money for adequate reinforcements even though we'd just had the lucrative TV tie against Arsenal, turned a healthy profit and spent little over the summer. The tactics were fine, it was just that the squad were huffing and puffing, and there was an obvious lack of communication at the back caused by the lack of leadership (which would have cost money) and mixed signals coming from Schmeichel who was being a prize cock after his televized stardom at the Emirates leading to major complacency. Weak and thick? Deary me. One of the best managers in our history, Leeds as they come, and he gets called that. For the first time in his managerial career, he'll have good money in the Championship. You watch him and the Terriers go next season. I fully reserve the right to bump this thread and laugh at opportune moments, as do you if he fails (which he won't!)
O'Leary got sacked because Leeds finished one place outside the Chumps Lge. Our problems were caused by the Bowyer/Woodgate scandal, not teams working us out. Grayson, as much as I love him, is not a quality manager, he can't spot talent and he has a dreadful backroom staff who don't challenge him.
Where have you been for the last 10 years boab? Do you deny he loved leeds? Do you deny he did his best for Leeds? Do you deny he gave us two of the greatest days in our history?
Just because he comes from Leeds means feck all to me, I really couldn't give a ****. He did well for us in the League One and somehow managed to get a team together for a period in the Championship, then he's ability was found out and he lost the players respect. He is a former manager of Leeds United and that is it, long forgotten in years to come. Revie and Wilkinson are the only managers who can be seen as the best managers Leeds United have ever had, who knows Warnock may join them.
Which Leeds managers have done better than Grayson then? Revie Wilkinson Armfield O'Leary Graham/Buckley/Carter (questionable/equal considering circumstances)
I don't care where he's from. He loved Leeds (the team) like we all do. Again, I hope I'm wrong about Warnock. I just disagree with the blame Grayson stuff.
Add Willis Edwards, Dick Ray and Major Frank Buckley to that list. You may even add Blackwell, at least he got us to a Premiership play off final. Easy.
I'd rank him above O'Leary. O'Leary underachieved with the resources at his disposal, Larry overachieved. I don't get this "we were 2nd then fell away" argument either, who took us to 2nd in the first place?
So he's the 5th best all-time manager of one of England's great football institutions. 5th out of 25 doesn't look too untidy to me. So in that case, how was my post "utterly shocking"?
They were the ones I could come up with, I'm sure there are many others who will be better than Grayson.
That's not very convincing. How about some names? Here, I'll give you a headstart: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Leeds_United_A.F.C._managers
