Thermal under-shirts help to keep muscles protected and warm, and prevent cramp. They are probably advised to wear them rather than long shirts to prevent injuries.
Yes, I can understand that. In times past [eg. the 60s,70s and 80s] long sleeves were tight. In fact, the whole shirt was tighter, compared to the shirts of nowadays. Certainly much, much tighter, when compared to the tents Saints players had to wear in the last decade [ie. the 00s]. You could have made two shirts with the amount of material used in those.
'Dope' is also 'awesome' or 'cool', so in essence, short shirts are ace, and long shirts are for sissy's. All the excuses for wearing long shirts also - like 'covers up my tattoo's' or 'stops people fouling me' are just that - excuses from sissy's, who would be better off at home in a warm bath than outside in the lovely cold. Thermal undershirt, unbelievable! Run around you wasters!
Sadly I am forced to wear long sleeved shirts else I would have to wear a coat/jacket. The sun and my skin are just not compatible. Sun brings me out in a very unsightly and uncomfortable rash.
Sorry to hear that - In my defence I was commenting on footballer nonce's rather than real world citizens. Please consider yourself excluded from my abusive remarks to thermal/long sleeve wearer's, and with any luck you'll find the sun a better friend one day.
I am sorry if you thought that I had misinterpreted your post. Sadly it is a problem that I have had since posted to Aden in 67 and took in too much sun. Luckily my two little ones don't seem to have caught it from my genes so I don't have to fret on their behalf.
Ah, that must have been a fascinating time and quite an adventure. I knew not that you were posted to a hot zone, so good to learn some of the personal aspect of a Not 606er - expect the Wiltshire weather is a blessed relief!
It is a lot wetter normally, though when hot it does become uncomfortable. Definitely a lot quieter as well which for an old git like me is a blessing.
