Thought I'd let you guys know that you're coming to St Mary's to play in our Annual cup, the "Markus Liebherr cup" in honour of our saviour who bought the club on the brink of extinction, who has since sadly passed away. It's you, us and rangers. In a 3 way tournament the halves are 45 minutes long with a winner being decided by penalties if needs be. I suppose this means we are developing a bit of a link between the two clubs now, and I have a feeling the ox deal had a clause about this. Last year we played Werder bremen and Bilbao (who we are also linked with). Further information is here http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2794611,00.html What do you guys think? Will any of you be coming down? The Olympic torch is on show also
Can't say i'm too excited. I know it's for a good cause, but we have no bearing on your history, wouldn't it be more appropriate to put aside your differences with Pompey for 1 day and play them instead?
Ha ha no more 'fixed' rumours about this one should we win it. For some reason people never took the Emirates seriously. Jealousy is my assumption.
I'm afraid many Neanderthals would ruin that, especially on what is a emotional day for most fans of the club. I mean can you imagine Spurs fans being on best behaviour and coming to your ground for a competition in memory of a club legend? There is always one who ruins it. Trust me we've discussed it on our board many times.
Good point, you can't rely on opponent fans to behave. Okay, good luck with it, hope all goes well, and hopefully we can end the trophy drought.
If it helps it's a very pretty trophy. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/javaImages/3e/e5/0,,10280~9823550,00.jpg
It looks like this is part of the Chamberlain deal. It's good fun and if you have kids it's a great day for them, they set up a load of fairground rides and that kind of stuff outside. Plus the Olympic torch is coming round if you are into that kind of thing. Last year there were some crazy Germans and good banter was had by all.
Sad that some fans would be like that....but in all fairness spurs fans behaved impeccably when ever this has happened (David Rocastle being the one that stands out) and so did Arsenal fans at WHL when our legend Bobby Smith died. Guess some have no sense of grace.
Have to agree. Although we hate each other as much as any other pair of rivals, there is the respect there at times when football is second in importance to something like a death.
Yeah if you didn't already know the two games we played them this season fans had to be in a "Bubble trip" which is when you can only go to the game if you go by coach which was surrounded by police and driven in and then straight out of the respective cities, both cities roads were on stand still all because of some stupid hooligans.
i dont know if you boys are being serious about the trophy or not...but for sake of taking the Piskie im going to presume your being serious and start a whole heap of rumuors about how you have fallen from grace etc. season is over...im bored...dont get all arsey with me over it.
