That's because we've not done it properly for long enough. My point still stands, we will not be picking up some new European way of playing, it was always ours, we just never kept it up.
oh I see what you're saying, thought you were implying the two philosophies were different. Anything which sees us keeping possession and passing the other team to death whilst moving FORWARD and scoring goals is fine by me

Agreed: Only two teams in World football play "tiki taka"- Barcelona and Spain. Even Swansea, as good as their passing play is, didn't play tiki taka last season. It's was just really good pass and move.
Tiki taka is about moving the ball and keeping it to control the game and the opposition. Swansea did that last season, so it was tiki taka, just not as good as Spain's. But again there's very little difference between "tiki taka", "total football" and "pass and move". Its been around for decades, Barca have just perfected it.

Swansea played superb football, but they didn't play that sort of close-control stuff. Arsenal's game has been about keeping the ball for years too, but they've never played tiki taka imo. Bilbao played us off the park with pass and move but I wouldn't consider it tiki taka. I don't know, maybe what Swansea play is considered Tiki taka, I just thought it was something different.
Yeah this is what I believe too. Arsenal and Swansea can pass for fun, but they can't play the one-touch football or one-two's like Barca do.
Without being disrespectful to Swansea, they don't have the players for one touch football which splits open defenses. They have players good on the ball who work hard to create open passes for each other. Rather than parking the bus to defend, they kept hold of the ball. It worked well for them, clearly. Not Tiki taka, but a variation which was suited to their players and their standing in the league. Rodgers, I feel, can again adapt the style to Liverpool's players.
Yeah... Regardless of whether it's one-touch or not... It's better to have the ball. Will be interesting to see who he targets... Whoever they are, you know they'll be comfortable on the ball... And he seems like someone who really looks at the details when it comes to players. I was just pointing out that there is a difference between "pass and move" and "tiki-taka"... Mainly the speed of the passing and one-twos.
