@ Hothead - He said it 10 times??? I thought it was a one off?? Fair enough that makes it a whole lot worse still wouldn't call him a racist but yeah that is pretty bad. You are right in the sense it potentially implies something deep seated. Suprising thing is he didn't say it to other players in that game or at any other point in the league. Trust Evra to bring it out in people.
Didn't he use the Spanish word "negrito" that is often used in his homeland in a completely different way? Whatever, too many people want to condemn opposition players as racist because it suits them too. I know I would mock Chelsea and Liverpool fans in banter, but I wouldn't actually believe it! Just like I tell a UNited fan I know that Rio is a druggie..
Liverpoo was a typo. My "simplistic" and "sensational" claim is that a player was found guilty of racism and suspended for 8 games, making him a racist . Your, i assume complex and resonable (?), claim is that he isnt really, he might have been innocent and found guilty by accident Seriously, get real. You are a Liverpool fan clinging to whatever you can to try and exonorate a racist - just like the other players in your team. Your whole club embarrassed and shamed itself this year with this whole episode - non more so than Dalglish. As for Rodgers I think he is a good manager who plays proper football and will be FAR better than Dalglish. We need more people like Rodgers making it to the bigger clubs in this country - and we need to be kicking managers like Pullis and Allerdyce out of the game.
Some racists do a good job of hiding their racism because it is socially unacceptable... if they get wound up enough though, it comes out.
Anyway, back on topic regarding Rogers. I can't see him making an instant turnaround, he might get the 'new manager' charm for a few games, but Liverpool are going to really have to stick by him and support him for the long term. There's no way they can dispense with him if it's not working after a season, it is getting ridiculous at how many managers they are getting through. Liverpool are an example to those who think that simply getting rid of the manager is a instant guarantee to improve things.
Haven't they set themselves up for a fall, the owners have basically insisted that top 4 is the minimum requirement.
Yes they did, but it puts a lot of pressure on whoever got the job, especially as I think Liverpool are a long way of getting top 4, and the owners have basically stated that they won't be investing huge amounts this summer, going to be interesting how it pans out.
