I think Rodgers will be a good move, plays footy the rights way, attention to detail, wants to learn, I think its a good appointment But I must admit Im still a bit concerned by FSG They got the club for a song £230m, last year they spent £36m net in the transfer market, which is our operating profit. So as we speak apart from the money they spent on buyin the club, they havnt spent a penny They said they " Wanted to Win ", well Mr Henry if you wanna win is this game you have to splash the cash .........and lots of it Im concerned by ther obsession with lowering the wage bill, which does make sense and soem dead wood had to be got rid of, but basically if you look at the stats the highest paid team is usually the best. The still no movement on the stadium is also an issue, and there have even been rumours of FSG looking to sell up as they did with the Florida Marlins I would be very disappointed with less than a £35m net spend this window, and if they REALLY DO wanna win, we will see anet spend of at least £50m But IMO we wont have to wait long to see if FSG mean business Come the 1st September we will know if FSG are the real deal
Playing a bit of both sides, IF they sold up, would you be happier with that ( for all to answer)? We would be without much debt, have a much better commerical revenue and global spread than before, sponsorships in place that pull in lots of money, and a young squad. Would you prefer an Oil tycoon to come in then after they laid the foundations?
We'll get an idea as the Summer goes along. The calibre of players will be a big sign of things to come.
The last thing I want is to see an oil toyshop owner like Chelsea/City/PSG/Anzhi/Malaga. I would sooner sit between 4-8th for the next 10 years and support my team rather than watch a bunch on mercenary's who don't care about my club, whilst sitting alongside plastic fans who turn up when we play well but go for high tea when we're playing bad. For this reason, FSG and their approach is what I'm hoping on. If it fails, it fails. I'll still support this team.
And wage bills are going to be the most important things under FFP. If you need to buy that one player you can get to make the difference say in January, but can't buy him because you've 3 mistakes on 5 year contracts with high cumulative wages sitting on the bench week after week doing nothing. ... No matter how good a manager & scouts it'll only take a few mistakes to upset the budget especially if we still have inferior gate receipts if the stadium issue is unresolved.
Agree with you there, I want to see the top players playing for us but if it takes time, some more commericial revenue, a new stadium, then so be it but at least we go about it the right way and not just money for awhile.
Some of us have been saying for years that the amount of money in the game will destroy it unless something is done. Now we have a situation where the owners are under suspicion because they aren't throwing a ****load of money in during the first couple of years of their tenure. I have to admit finance isn't my area of expertise, but common sense says that a business like theirs can't hope to compete with Abramovich and the Arabs in terms of financial input. They are trying to operate a sound business model and that will take time. Instead of calling for them to spend £300M to compete with the tycoon owners we have to hope that the FFP rules bring the tycoons down to the level that the rest of us can compete with.
Yip Saint. I'd go as bloody far as getting together with the likes of arsenal & taking Uefa to court if we follow the rules & they let chelski & city away with it. Can't have it both ways. Can't limit us, then turn a blind eye to these two or the Spanish clubs having their debt written off by the national bank every year...
F.F.S Not another ****wit having a go at FSG..why? Because they refuse to spend money like the arabs at citeh and Roman. Why doesn't mr ****wit look at what they've done to improve are commercial revenue, the shirt deal, etc. They are looking to build long term stability, give a solid base for future genrations, yet some idiots only look at the nxt day.
I hate when people start saying "their net spend is not much blah blah". Fact is they put the transfer money from Torres, Babbel & Meireles back into the transfer fund. Not a lot of clubs do that. They could have quite easily only given us £30mil of that £70mil but they didn't! They are clever not just throwing loads of money at it and putting the club back into loads of debt, and for that I'm glad.
New stadium? Seriously after what you said yesterday I don't know how you dare mention a new stadium.
What I said yesterday? About funds? Will what I said take time, yes, is that what I said in my sentence? yes. Move on Redux.
Let me get my crystal ball out... Actually, with that second sentence, when do you think? Don't just say never, give us some "substance" as to why no new stadium. Go ahead, I will wait. Once again, boring redux.
oh no, they havn't wasted a shed load of cash and built a stadium..what a class knob head. Are you aware of how much they wrote off to get hicks plans out of the equation? Are you aware they are looking at how to fund either an upgrade of Anfield or a new stadium in stanley park? They are taking time to ensure they get the right solution, or would you rather they just rushed in and created another f^&k up?
For 200m they got a bargain and everyone knows it. Wouldn't be surprised if that Chelsea fan got a backhander. OP be careful,if you're too critical they call you a sum and try to ban you.
Bargain or not, we were literally hours away from going into administration. We have alot to thank them for and as b4f said, they deserve time and our patience.
