Even John Aldridge, who always sees the best in Liverpool, thinks the guy will be out of his depth. Although being well short of international quality seems to be the theme of our squad for the Euros.
This is just terrible news :S - I would rather take a player less in the squad than take Henderson and risk that he might get a chance to mince aroound the field at any stage. Saying that... If Henderson can represent England at a major tournament it gives hope to all those up and coming kids in the country that are rubbish at the sport lol
If you can think of a better option who isn't Carrick, let me know. I know some good players, but none of them have done it consistently on big stages.
Wasn't the rumour that Carrick refused to be in the squad unless he was a guaranteed starter? Or was that a load of rubbish?
In or out I don't think Lampard would have made that much difference. England are a team that are playing not to lose rather than to win, with Lampard and the rest of the 'golden oldies' plus Downing and Henderson England have already shown their hand and I can't think anybody is too bothered. One day we may turn up at a tournament confident in the knowledge that the rest of the world fears us but that is not now and hasn't been for years. Lampard and the rest are just part of a long slow decline that the FA refuses to face.
Cleverley, Osman, an injured Lampard, Britton, Gardner, an injured Barry... I know there's not exactly a lot of experience available but at least pick someone who had a decent season!
I'd take Beckham for sure, as looking at the squad there isn't one player that could stick the ball on Carrolls head
